My respected The_Star has enlightened this topic very well.

Maha Khan! Non Muslims are livening peacefully here. The constitution of Pakistan has provided them sufficient rights. Ten seats are reserved in national assembly for minorities. In the jobs of government sector, 5% seats are reserved for the minorities. According to 18th amendment in constitution, 4 seats are reserved in senate(Upper House) for minorities . Prime Minister has announced that the prisoner from minorities involved in minor crime would be granted remission on their religious festivals as given to Muslims. Federal minister for minorities, Shahbaz Bhatti has said that they are given sufficient right.

Dear!
India is a secular country, then, why did we want a separate homeland for Muslims? We could live in India, a secular country. only the reason, to get Pakistan, was that Muslims wanted a separate country where they would practice Islamic rules and regulations. these thoughts were the base of two nation theory. Qaid-e-Azam was also in favour of islamic country,
He said at the opening ceremony of State Bank of Pakistan, Karachi July 1, 1948
"We must work our destiny in our own way and present to the world an economic system based on true Islamic concept of equality of manhood and social justice. We will thereby be fulfilling our mission as Muslims and giving to humanity the message of peace which alone can save it and secure the welfare, happiness and prosperity of mankind".
The issue was not about religion it was more about psychological differences. Muslim rulers had never established a theocracy in sub- continent through 800 years of their rule. But what they transfered to posterity was the supriority complex that they deserve to rule India and when there remained no chances of their rule and when they realized that in a country where muslims were in minority, they would never get a chance to rule so they aspired to separate.
The mosy important point here is where and when the movement for pakistan started and who were the proponents of two nation theory?
it started in the northern and central provinces of india which were not muslim majority at all. Muslims initially had upto 45% representation in the civil service in these areas and when their number started trumbling and their status being challenged, they realized that they will not be able to enjoy the priviliged position any more. And then they started the movement for Pakistan.
Initially we also know from the history that AIML made little appeal to common muslims. Muslims were not well-educated at that time. The binding force for them at that time was only religion and Quaid after experiencing Congress ministries of 1937-39 realized that muslims should be united in any way otherwise movement will no get the needed momentum.
So here came the religion. It was used as the identity as muslims were not nation at that time. And it was right and shows Quaid's constitutional intellect.
Quaid, a non practising muslim , knew very well that he cant allow minority suffer at the hands of majority-something that was happening in british india. So he laid the foundation of a suclar country. When he proclaimed at 11 august that you are free to go your mosques and temples and religion has nothing to do with the business of the state.

To be continued..............................
