Default Tonsa Shareef - A case study : Is the education not the key to progress?

Tonsa Shareef (Tehsil of District Dera Ghazi Khan-Punjab) is the most educated city of Pakistan, where literacy rate is 93%.Its name is in UNO records.Despite this the people of Tonsa are still lagging behind in development. What is the reason behind this?
Is the education is not key to progress???

Thanks dear for giving such a commendable information.Let me remind you, that a place namely Khanozai, located in Baluchistan,a backward, hilly vale, having almost 92% literacy rate, but it is gruesome to explain the prevailing deplorable conditions of the locality.Like other parts of Baluchistan,it seems more backward than others, lacking in all basic facilities.
As for as your question''Is the education is not key to progress'' is concerned,it seems volatile in presence of policies and tendencies which are being blindly pursued. In other countries, specially in those where literacy rate is taken as one of the key factors for development.Such countries have well adorned and remarkably managed policies and better infrastructure, specially in health and education sector. Regrettably,we have a reverse situation here,no such initiatives appear to have been taken to cope with the seeming challenges.Deffinately education has the wholistic potential to bring radical overhaul, but its entire success relies on effectual plans, result oriented policies, congenial infrastructure, more employment opportunities, financial stability, peace and tranquility, social development and material assessment of basic needs.Untill and unless these loopholes are plugged up,education itself, however it may be dominant, can not bring success.
Regards

people are educated no doubt...who knows better than me that i also belong to this tehsil....thing is that one who is at a some prestigious and authoritative post he does not raise his voice at the backwardness of his area especially our members of legislation...and people of there despite education do not vote for change they do not even change the faces...same people are being selected again and again who have done nothing to alleviate their grievances.....i think this the root cause of our backwardness....

Well, Taunsa Shareef no doubt has awesome literacy rate. But at the same time it is too less progressed.
The reasons for it backwardness are many. Some are

- Lack of natural resources like agriculture is scarce, Before 2002 there was not a single canal in this Tehsil (even being one of the largest Tehsils of Punjab in Area).

2-The people from that area are not much interested in Business. They usually prefer govt. jobs. Govt Jobs are not enough for to eradicate poverty. and also not every one can get them because of less number of jobs and more competition.

3- Some people also say (Although I am not sure about that) that people from Taunsa Shareef are discriminated even in their own District i.e D G Khan, in neighboring Districts and other districts in Punjab which stops them from getting reasonable jobs.

4- People with good education from this area have to leave their native homes along with their families for jobs . hence they do not spend their money in Taunsa Shareef which stops business from flourishing in the area. This leaves the area only with people who are just ( matric-middle-primary pass) literate, cant get jobs, cant do business and no agriculture but just poverty.

The situation is expected to improve with the coming of CRBC canal, which will improve agriculture and hence business.

And about education not being key of progress in this Tehsil, yes education alone is not key to progress. but apart from this other measures need to be taken i.e proper employment of resource, balance between jobs and business opportunities.

That is nothing unique about Taunsa Shareef. This is the tragedy and problem of almost all backward areas of Pakistan. I was just talking about those aspects which are unique in Taunsa Shareef.
