Hunza Artificial Lake
why our govt is not taking lessons from the past????? you will find many similar cases where govt remained ignorant during the formative phases of an incident and came to rescue when it is too late. Our govt. wakes up only when it is a matter of high casuality and when an incident warns for a high magnitude calamity.
How would you comment over the nescient attitude of our Govt. during the intitial stages of lake formation in Hunza (Gilgit-Baltistan)? This invited clamity will cost more than the actual cost required for the drainage of water through moters in the intitial stage of lake formation, an offer made by chines engineers, which was been rejected by our high authorities, because of its high cost... now the rehabiltation of IDP's will cost billions of dollors, an added cost along with displacment process, supply of food stuff and work by FWO for making a spillway for the drainage of water. (cost management and disaster management) wow please do pray for the affecties of Hunza and for a low casuality drainage of water from the 26km long and over 380ft deep artificial lake. regards |

On a positve note ........
lets consider it a gift of nature for Pakistan and put a power house on the spill way to produce the much needed power. is it not a natural dam like Terbela and Mangla ? (but without any cost)

My money in a Swiss bank ?
Wow, what an idea. Thanks for showing a wonderfull dream. I have visited Hunza and people there are of very gentle nature. Anything planned (if any) for that area, it will be with the agreement of the local population. No worry plz. i had just floated an idea that comes in mind to see that huge reservior of water. It should not go waste as it is pure minerl water and very good for health and long life. Hunza water bottle sells very costly in Lahore.

The government once again has proved its incompetence by not willing to act when this Hunza lake crisis first surfaced. The Prime Minister was busy in the election campaign of Jamshed Dasti in Muzaffargarh and had no time to think about this disaster. The ruling elite must endear themselves to the people by working for them. It seems very shameful for the rulers to be more worried about their own Swiss accounts, NRO, Rehman Maliks etc and they have no time to work out solutions for such crises as being faced by the public everyday.

Agreed with hunzai.
This is not something new for Pakistan and Pakistanis. Our govt come to the crises at the eleventh hour. The issue is on air for several months but the got waited, waitted, and waited till the time to burst. What a policy and what a policy makers. I think the bydget is near and the govt need money inorder to show somthing to the people but at the cost of our Gb bretheren. Last year before budget the IDPs of malaknd division came now this time will be the IDPs of GB. Last edited by Princess Royal; Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 08:30 PM. Baba jee it is easy to rule but difficult to govern !
The work is in progress there since the landside blocked the water flow, but some of our fellow pakistanis have to take advantage of the situation for their vested interest. @sana Your thinking is postive. lets start.

The policies of federal govt and the local govt of Gilgit Baltistan are totally insensitive and fallible.
