US says mistreatment of Pak army ‘most regrettable’ incident

LAHORE: A group of Pakistan Army officers have cancelled a visit to the US CENTCOM to protest against the alleged misbehaviour they had to face at the Dallas Airport, a private TV channel reported on Tuesday.

The army delegation boarded a flight from the Dallas Airport to attend a US Defence Department meeting.

Once inside the United Airlines plane, one of the delegation members remarked that he hoped the flight proved to be their last flight and they soon reached their destiny. However, a passenger who overheard them mistook the officials for terrorists. The airport security staff was alerted, who “questioned the Pakistani delegation and misbehaved with them”.

The US Defence Department has apologised for the incident, however the delegation has decided to return home. daily times monitor

WASHINGTON (SANA): Deploring the mistreatment of Pakistan Army delegation at US airport, US termed the incident as ‘most unfortunate’, adding US has begged pardon from Pakistan government in this wake, assuring that the canceled meeting may be held in Pakistan in coming days.

During the routine briefing in Washington, US State Department representative Philip.J Crowley said the incident was deplorable and the government has excused Pakistan over mistreatment of its army delegation.

He said a misunderstanding led to that misfortunate incident, extending assurance that such incident would never take place in future. “Next meeting may occur in Pakistan for which US Defence Department will contact Pakistan government”, he added.

To a question he said our government has sent Pakistan apology on the incident.

Apart of what the ISPR and the delegation has done, we can do nothing on this appalling, paranoia and maltreatment but gnash in anger, as we are heavily dependent on US for AID, It could be augured looking at the contemporary situation of dependency.
