EDUCATION has A DEEP IMAPCT ON DEMOCRACY
AMERICAN PHILOSPHER JOHN DEWEY VALIdates the point when he asserts,
"REAL DEMOCRACY IS OBTAINED NOT JUST BY EXTENDING VOTING RIGHT BUT BY ENSURING THAT THERE EXISTS A FULLY INFORMED PUBLIC OPINION." BASICALLY, democracy is a participatory way of governance but the ignorant cannot rationaly contribute at the same level as the informed. IT is no coincedence that US AND CHINA'S cabinet is filled by technocrats to make knowldge-base policy decisions. Despite the fact, that our constitution makes it the state's obligation to provide free and compulsory education, PAKISTAN continues to be among12 countries who spend less than 2% of gdp on education. Article 25A, according to the 18th constitutional amendment, declares “education free and compulsory for all children of the age of 5 to 16 years, in such manner as may be determined by law.”
