American from consulate kills 3 in self-defence?

An employee of the US consulate in this eastern Pakistani city opened fire and drove his vehicle at a high speed to evade an apparent robbery, killing three persons in a busy commercial area, police said.

The firing by the US national - identified by police as Raymond David, a member of the staff at the American consulate - killed two men who were apparently trying to rob him.

A third man on a motorcycle was killed when he was hit by David's vehicle as he attempted to leave the Mozang area of Lahore. David's car was intercepted by two alleged robbers, Lahore Police spokesman Niyab Haider told PTI.

"I opened fire in self-defence," David was quoted as saying by the spokesman. Haider said a pistol was recovered from the two men who allegedly tried to rob the US national.

Superintendent of Police (Operations) Umar Saeed too confirmed the men who intercepted the American were armed.

Police took David into custody after the incident though no case has been registered against him, officials said.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and directed officials to take action against the US national according to international conventions, TV news channels reported.

Footage on television showed that the front windscreen of the US national's car was punctured by several bullets.

The rear windscreen was shattered.

Witnesses said they had seen the two armed trying to hold up the US national. They said they had then seen the American firing at the two men. The US national took photos of the two men after they fell to the ground on being hit by bullets, the witnesses said.

The American spoke in Urdu and told people who surrounded his car that he had acted in self-defence, they said. People protested in the area after the incident and burnt tyres to block roads.

Dear bindas, as least do not salute him, as its just initial report that he took this step in his defense, first it doesn’t mean that any foreigner can carry a loaded gun with him, and shoot if he face such attempt.

Here, question arise, that what allows any foreigner to take gun with him, and,
if he is diplomat, why, he didn’t ask government to protect him, or provide him any security?

brother ur points and quaries are very valid.but the Question is why we act so offensive in case Americans.if these robbers were gun downed by local people then everyone would be praising them.hope u remember the heart breaking incident of sialkot ,and in the start the media and local people were praising the mob for killing robbers which were innocent kids.
here in pakistan freedom of expression is crossing its limits.u would not believe but its reality .

Yes dear, Pakistan is in very critical position, but handling politely with Americans will be putting head in an apiary. First of all see our government officials, they in very first statement, declared that this was a self defense attempt. Secondly, if this proven, American will put another clause for Pakistan, that American nationals will carry loaded guns for their self defense, and we all know this will become a license for all.

dude bindas, if u see the news report u must heard that the person who was killed got three bullet shots from back...which definitely dont prove that, that was a mere defense,

and also if he is an american official than there must be some bodyguard with him....and also when the locals these are not allowed to carry guns than why should these foreigners are allowed to carry weapons with them....

Questions:

1. Was he a diplomat?

2. Was he driving an embassy vehicle?

3. Did he really fired as an act of self-defence?

4. Did he have the permission/license of the arm and communication instrument (wireless handset)?

5. Why did he violate One-Way traffic, that resulted in the death of another person?

----------------

To me, US should waive the immunity from him after calling him back to US and than he be extradited back to Pakistan for a trial. A valid way, proved by history.

Regards

Self defence is the right for every person

What about the third guy who was on motorcycle?

1).Mr American if he did in his self defence why he was running away from the police. He must should called to the police as after gunned down those killers he was no more in secure.

2).On the other hand he broke the traffic law by overspeeding his car in one way track which cause the reason of one innocent man's murder.
