Budget or a great blunder?

Lets have some discussion on pros and cons of the proposed budget presented yesterday before the NA.

My point of view is that this budget is going to cause great problems for the economy.
Reason is that SBP is sticking to maintain strict MP to control Inflation, while FP has shown further magnanimity by reducing GST and eliminating many duties, and increasing income tax exemption limit.
Keeping in view the poor tax to GDP ratio, at least a status qou should have been maintained of existing taxes and new taxes should have been introduced. Elasticity and bouyancy of taxation should have been increased. But in my opinion the Government has committed a great blunder in the budget. These stpes might appear to be public friendly, but they will give harmful consequences in form of accelerating inflation and then bringing a halt to the growth process.

The members of this august forum are requested to share their opinion on the budget.

17 lac are paying taxes and 23 lac are not paying..rest are not eligible.(including kids, unemployed(although these are also paying taxes in the form of sales tax etc) etc etc)

the budget of benazir income support fund should be allocated to education and this specific education budget should be spent only in balochistan,KPk and interior sindh...this step will bring not less than anything like a revolution.

in view of the present constraints that PAK is facing any budget is a good budget provided it is made with good intentions and professional effeciency and management.

Sir, 17 lack are direct tax payers, rest are all paying taxes via indirect taxes, this increase taxes shall increase disposable income, and augment inflation, thus shaking stability.

MJ Khan has rightly pointed out the lack of attention towards merit goods.

The more should have been allocated to development expenditures instead of current expenditures, because development expenditure means more GDP and more tax revenue(subject to a improving tax-to-gdp ratio). However, the government has maintained the incremental model of budget & focusing on current expenditures.

As far as speech is concerned, the FM showed quite patience, but on the other hand it was very short speech which is totally unprecedented.

This Budget and the previous budget was a mere document because they keep on revising the targets..If you have seen the economic survey then you came to know that we scored a perfect zero this year..This is not the final budget for 2011-2012 ..Presidental reference and mini budgets reduced the value of these budgets..If the government is serious in achieving the envisioned targets ,then we can say that we will have progress..otherwise it is just a document in which the targets which government just gave the lollypop to the nation
