Default Rangers shooting: Extrajudicial killing caught on tape (Karachi)

KARACHI: A youth was killed when Rangers shot him in a busy area of Karachi, Boat Basin, television channels reported late on Wednesday.

Five men from the Ghazi wing of the Rangers are said to be involved in the incident, of whom two have been arrested.

Video footage of the incident showed the Rangers killing the man, Sarfaraz Shah, who had a pistol in his hand, after beating him up.

Before being shot, Shah had tried to grab the security forces’ weapons.

Initially, the police and Rangers had claimed that they were informed that a dacoit had held a family hostage in Benazir Bhutto Park. The security personnel claimed that they went inside the park and asked the man to surrender. When he refused to do so, the Rangers shot at him in retaliation. Shah was injured and died after reaching Jinnah Hospital, security personnel said.

Shah was the brother of Salik Shah, a reporter of Samaa TV. The family of the deceased along with journalists held a protest at the chief minister’s house in Karachi. The chief minister has taken notice of the incident.

The Sindh information minister, Sharjeel Memon has said that no leniency will be shown to the culprits.

Political parties, including the ANP and the MQM, have condemned the incident.

This happens.. Sense of fear makes such conditions. First of all the guy was having a pistol with him and the Rangers thought it prudent to kill him instead of letting him free so that he might not kill them tomorow. They would not have done it in environment of pleasure but thinking to safe them and their friends from a wretched death of tommorow..

Its worst phenomon when there is nothing lawful, everybody is going to do what deems him okay to save himself...

God give them mind of a human to think human......

This has not happened for the first time. There is no rule of law in our country.
You can watch plenty of videos of rangers injustice in karachi.
They consider themselves as protectors of metropolis but whenever they arrest any political activist ,hand over to police in amicable way.

Very heart aching clip

There is no rule of law in our country. I agree with you but as i read Dawn today, This story was on front page that he was snatching some ransom and mobile from one visitor in Benazir Park. The accused person also had one pistol to defend himself from law enforcement agencies. But as shown in video posted in forum he was armless. He was the brother of journalist but not himself. Journalists are also violating laws. How was the story shown by one of private TV channel ? Which law permits them to do so? There are many innocent person who are being killed by Mobile snatchers, Terrorist, Car-lifters etc but nobody is taking any notice of them?
I myself was victim of these crimes?
If they would leave him then everybody would have blamed them of corruption?
And if they would put them in prison? What would happen?

Where Justice delayed is justice denied!

Unhappy We all are responsible

Rangers man killed an unarmed person which is very very sad and cruel. I must say that Rangers are doing duty in Karachi in very tough situation so they also become tired and tensed. Agitation is increasing in our society. Now there are so many murders which only occur by a small fight or any other small issue. But so far in this case I didn't find any mistake or injustice by the government. All 5 rangers personnel were arrested and FIR has been lodged against them. It is hilarious to watch a murder in front of media by a law enforcer.

It's all due to the level of frustration that is being build up now a days. The way this person got shot clearly shows the lake of temperament and clear frustration on security personals end.

If things keep moving the same way we might see some other scenes like so.

Terrifying, this one was caught by camera eye but hundreds passed unwatched and unnoticed. It was a deliberate act as reported by the news that youth was unarmed at the time of shooting and was left to bleed on the ground.
