I only know about one aspect that graduate pass will be given preference in this scheme. Govt. should initiate another good scheme for graduates instead of making them drivers.

If history can be taken as a gudie, such schemes hae utterly failed to achieve the stated objectives for being politically driven.I think instaed of onsuming this money to selected individuals , other development programs must be initiated with much wider sope.

NOT at all a good idea and i am sure no graduate would prefer to be a driver after earning a bachelors or a masters degree..i wonder from where did CTBT get such horrendous ideas of ruining economy as well as the pride of literate youth

Yellow cab scheme was a big failure in past so PML(N) is doing wrong. Looks like that PML(N) gave a election budget of Punjab this year.

It has been asserted that these cabs would be used to replace rickshaws. That is why, the scheme would be introduced in major cities of the province, including five City District Governments.

This has been pronounced publically by the PML-N bigwigs on more than one occasion that the scheme would be re-introduced since the same party in February 1992 had launched the programme, which was considered to have played a significant part in the deterioration of nationalised commercial banks. An entity, now a private sector, was virtually brought it to the brink of disaster, and its opponents considered it a political bribe for PML-N workers. However, despite catching abundant flak from the political adversaries, the N-League has gone ahead with the scheme.

Is PML(N) planning to vanish CNG rickshaw? If yes, then it is a bad step by Punjab government.

I agree with your views that Punjab government should launched another scheme to give benifit to the graduates. In my own thinking this scheme is a big jock with the graduates who spent 14years to become graduate. Because, there will be no difference between a illiterate driver and literate graduate.

Thumbs down

It reminds of two lines from a piece written by Khalil Jibran...

Pity the nation whose people are sheep,
and whose shepherds mislead them....
