Default Higher promotions in armed forces on wish of USA

It is said that there is some agreement between US and Pakistan on higher promotions in armed forces by wish of US. Is it true or not?

Agreement is something else but it is a fact that US has an influence in promotions for Top spots in Pakistan Army. The trace is "Fort Leavenworth Experience". Fort Leavenworth has been historically known as the "Intellectual Center of the Army."

In Pakistan case, there have been 123 army officers who have been trained at USACGSC, 73 of them have been the Generals and 4 of them have been the Chief of Army Staff and International Hall of Fame inductees.

Kayani, Musharaf, Aslam Baig and Jhangir Karamat were all trained in US Kansas. Every year, US choose one Major from Pakistan army for training in Fort Leavenworth. This is worth pondering to note that out of 123 officers, 73 of them have gone to become Generals. These facts are telling the story how influential "Fort Leavenworth Experience" is?

Hmm ....!! Then this must be some agreement that in return of such military support for training etc of officers, the military chiefs must be selected by wish of USA. Long time back someone told me about the written agreement in this regard which took place in 1950, but i forgot the name now
If anyone have some knowledge plz share.

dont know if its true or false but what i know is that one of the basis of rejecting kerry lugar bill were the sections in that bill which were intended to keep some sort of check on promotions in PAK army.

i wonder and i seriously wonder why everything is going aginst army these days?is it "just" a coincidence?or all this criticism really holds some substance in it

Army should be accountable to the law of land and to its supreme commander (unlucky we, its Zardari now) . No one is above the law

Oh dear, I hope this is wrong. The US is now aiming at this institution vigorously from all sides- media image, rank infiltration, incursions and what not. It doesnt go on in a campaign against any other institution of Pakistan because they're already bought a 110%. Cant say if the loyal element in Pak army will be able to fight this tactic off. Even if 2-3 top generals decide to do this, the other wrong element will automatically rise up, while the good element will remain low in the ranks and unable to make key decisions.

On the other hand, even if this doesnt happen- who'll explain to the masses that their army isnt entirely treacherous? The damage is done with just a one-liner.

So when the judiciary, executive, legislature and the public all are silent and helpless-who is gonna ensure this country at least stays intact or fight off aggression?

Well, our military personnel regularly go to Europe, UK (Sandhurst is famous) and USA for trainings. Thats not a big issue on its own- its normal. Although yeah, some of them may return with a pro-US stance that doesnt necessarily mean those men will work counter-productive to Pakistan. It just means, they will want to remain on the american bandwagon (itself not preferable). Like Kiyani is branded as pro-US, but he has shown attitude contrary to US liking in the past. From certain sources, ive come to know that he has even given up a shut up call of non-cooperation to the Americans on delicate issues. I mean, he uses Pak's strategic advantage to do so.

to a certain extent this may be true but the extent does not go beyond 5%. These coveted 5% are identified and ridiculed among the uniformed circles as boot lickers and chamchas, and never taken seriously by the Officers or the jawans.

Pakistan Armed Forces cross trains with many western, middle eastern and far eastern contemporaries, and US, UK are one of them. so no biggie.

Asal mey aaj kal fauj ki shamat aaey huwi hey Thanks to our bought media, who is busy creating sensation, propagandising miniscule issues and avoiding major ones, and towing a clandestine line of a certain cabal. And how can I forget our intellectual and educated 'awam' who gobbles everything and anything that the IDIOT BOX edifies without question or ponder.

See its just like that Ariel add... We all know that Arieal aik dhulai mey kaprey saaf nai karta, lekin constant drumming does have its affects on human behavior/opinion after all.

Ab samaj aata hey ke awam ko jahil rakhney ki conspiracy ka kya matlab hey.

on the outset, ofcourse, no body is above the law. and the fact that an irrevocable warrent has been issued for our former COAS should be testimony that the army is not above the law. Now can we please move our to our respectable ministers who have impunity thanks to the dreaded NRO?!?!

Paa Jee, kerey Shariat di gal kar re o tussi .

While ur at it, (and since ur in a humourous mood) also blame the Army for the following.

1. The foul stench outside our residences.
2. The excessive inclement weather in Punjab and no rains in Karachi
3. The untimely death of my pet dog.
4. The fly that fell on my Nihari at lunch
5. For looking so Dhaansoo in their Khaqi wardi
6. For the traffic u experienced at 5 pm today
7. And.....For not selecting you at ISSB because of ur extremist views

LET THE SKIRMISH BEGIN!!!!!!!
