Decentralisation of SBP
This refers to the Banking Services Corporation Ordinance of 2001 whereby we had devolved the operational functions of our central bank to a parallel autonomous body within the SBP domain, i-e, BSC. We have the example of fragmentation of Federal Reserve & Treasury in U.S before us and the subsequent complications that arose due to that system. The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 that ushered in highly fortified federal reserve system exempted from any kind of possible intervention by sitting parliament or any other institution for that matter.
My question is whether this was a good move on our part? What can be the implications of this fragmentation for times to come? Brother Fayyaz? Anyone? |
Thanks a lot for invaluable contribution from all of you. Guys... seriously!?!? :closedeye
