We need fair and free of elections by empowering Election Commission.

Secondly, an accountability institution to adopt strict accountability check on all politicians, bureaucrats, and military men, and to accomplish the both tasks we need a fair judiciary set up with open working environment and without Political and establishment influence.

On above all, for sustainable democratic system, Education is must needed. Education can bring democracy in its true sense.

Challenges faced by the democracy in Pakistan:

May be these points help you in one way or the other under the topic of democracy.

Historical perspective/challenges faced in the past

-Quaid's quotes, statements and thoughts in support of democracy
-delay in constitution formation
-military coups
-incomplete democratic tenures
-charter of democracy and attitudes of signatories
-role of ulema in political processes
-media censorship, only one state owned channel

Causes

-weak institutions
-feudalism and stereotype trends of political system
-Lack of consensus in the muslim Ummah regarding the type of political system
-Uneducated voters
-less turn out
-institutional disharmony
-vested interests of politicians
-interpretation of constitution by different stakeholders

4.Recent challenges, status and steps to be taken

-more awareness as compared to past but still long way to go
-media overwhelmed watchdog....political and constitutional discussions on public forum....harmful in widening the gap b/w institutions....both extremes of role of media
-emergence of new political parties like PTI, positive step
-the trend has been shifting from rivalry to cooperation and coalition among political parties
-voter is more aware and educated as compared to the past
-judicial activism vs present government...positive.....PM in court....
-active civil society
-arab revolution and pakistani society.....we can't expect revolution here as we had intermittent democracy in the history in contrast to the middle east.
