Another in drone strike!

In a recent drone strike ,the senior most commander of Haqqani netwrok was killed, again when the govt is trying to coax TTP to negotiating table.

Is it a coincidence? or is it a deliberate pattern to derail peace talks?
Who gains the most if talks are halted ?

No doubt, it is a deliberate act. US and other western powers are not in favour of talks between Pakistan and TTP. In fact they are not in favour of any sort of stability in our country.
Collateral damage in these drone attacks is fueling the fire of extremism in the tribal belt but our govt, like the previous govt is paying no heed to this issue. they are still confused, whether to talk or fight with these people. If they had not prepared themselves for these issues, then why they contested the elections?

The 2014-fallout of NATO forces is round the corner, isn't a stable Pakistan crucial for their own interest as they draw out of Afghanistan? After all this is the reason why we are granted a bail out package on 'relatively' softer terms to forestall any instability till the end of next year.

NATO and US led forces are about to withdraw in 2014, but they are going to withdraw only to get out of problems themselves. They have dug us deep into problems and we are confused (both Pakistan and Afghanistan) that how to tackle this situation, the people who have been suffering war losses since a decade surely will keep retaliating in some form or the other because they have developed a mentality that the Pakistani and Afghan governments supported the US led forces and their operations within these countries. We need to cool down their sentiments only by talks, but the foreign invaders do not wish that we be in peace and therefore they foil our attemps of talks with the Taliban. US government itself is in a dialogue process since years and the current withdrawal might have been an agreement in the talks with the Taliban or other parties at stake (which shows that US has realized its limits and bounds despite being the super power). While talks on our side are not acceptable to them! Therefore they continue to strike drones and inflame the sentiments of the tribals to make them retaliate, and every body knows that these elements can only retaliate within our country only. It is only a drama that they are being depicted as a global terror organization. There is no such global command and control in these organizations. Every-where, where there is retaliation, it is due to local conflicts and local organizations; only to blame the Muslim Community the name of Al-Qaeda like organizations are used seeking justifications for worldwide attacks on the muslim community.

sorry to your concern not negotiating with them, in fact we don’t have any other option it was a war triggered by us have to stop by us today’s APC seems a new milestone to overcome existing mayhem of terrorism and good to see govt paying serious concern to the matter and 1st time all the parties were on one grid. It’s not an A-bomb, to A-bomb war we have example of Russia and now we are experiencing USA so we have to play smartly and someone rightly said a brilliant mind would find a way not to fight a war.

If talks is not the solution then what is the outcome of war against terrorism which we are fighting for the last 10 years?

The Haqqanis do not fall under the banner of the TTP. They are an independent group who, along with their allies, have had a confusing relationship with the Mehsuds.

The Haqqanis were attacked because they continue to plant IEDs in Afghanistan. Most of their mines end up killing women and children. The Haqqanis are also a state within a state in Pakistan - they control Pakistani territory, they legislate statutes, they act as the judiciary and even Pakistani generals need to seek the commander's permission before stepping on his turf.

We need to set our priorities right. Stop our Arab and other local friends from funding these militants. We should give up our silly dreams of controlling Afghanistan and gaining strategic depth because the cancer of militancy will end up consuming Pakistan itself first even before the first Indian soldier steps on Pakistani soil.

Lastly, what happened the last 5 times we negotiated with the TTP? And despite the drones, our agreements with the Haqqanis, Hekmatyars, Gul Bahadur and others still stand. But the TTP has time and again broken its agreements with us.

Also, we should stop being paranoid and seeing everything as some sort of a conspiracy. There are no patterns. The only Yahudi and Amriki and Hindu sazish exist in our Pakistan Studies-riddled minds. It's time we grow up and take responsibility for our actions.
