Obama and Sharif! Love Story.

So Prime Minister has finally landed in US. His agenda is to ask Obama to stop drone attacks (atleast thats what is being shown to us) while US office said they dont have time for that subject, rather security issues and steps against Taliban are more important for them.

Have your say! What do you think, will PM return to us with a good news or with another list of orders from US office?!

Talks between Nawaz Sharif & Obama

"Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Wednesday that he urged President Barack Obama to end drone strikes in Pakistan, touching on a thorny subject in relations between the two countries.

PM Sharif and President Obama were speaking after a 90-minute long one on one meeting at the White House’s Oval Office.

“I also brought up the issue of drones in our meeting, emphasizing the need to end ... such strikes,” said the prime minister.

Obama said he wanted to prevent security cooperation from being a source of tension between the US and Pakistan."

Members please explain this according to your vast experience that what is the importance of this meeting and are we ever going to get some results or hear the same sentences by the present Government of Pakistan?

Meeting between heads of two countries with nuclear powers is very important for both countries, if meeting is held on same level. Both heads are having equal right and authority. But meetings like this are useless (saying in country's benefit) as our pm was there to get dictations, what to do and what not to do. america might get what he wants our p.m might also get what he wants, infact government might also get what it wants. But what is best for Pakistan can not be achieved in such meeting. No offense to any one we dont have a single person in our nation who have guts to do right thing(including me).

The most important thing in Pakistan's perspective is Economy . It is not Drone attacks .

When asked people of KPK , their main issue was economic conditions , elevation in prices and rise in poverty . They need jobs , employment oppurtunities .

Pakistan needs access to International markets - no foreign aids , no loans . As far i remember , there are still various sanctions on Pakistan . Due to them , it is not easy for it to boost its economic growth .

And , as far as drone attacks are concerned , US would have to end them , in one or the other way . US is trying to go out of Afghanistan , from where they will take their ammunition or machinery ? Pakistan is a safe and most importantly cheap passage for America to make it happen . Otherwise , no doubt , they have got other options too . But , the most suitable one is Pakistan .

Nawaz Sharif has been focussing on Pakistan's Economic crisis from a long time. It is best chance for him to make some demands for this issue .

It is the best time , if Nawaz Sharif will not use this oppurtunity , then it would be a sort of replay of history regarding Pakistan's top leaders visit to America . But this time , history shouldnot be repeated.

Such meetings are always important and I agree to the above comments by Mr. Ali that the betterment of economy should be our leaders, topmost priority. But as far as yesterday's meeting is concerned there wasn't much related to economy on the agenda. Premier Nawaz Sharif brought up the issue of drone strikes, release of Dr. Afia and Kashmir whereas Obama brought up the issue of Dr. Shakil Afridi, Jamatuddawa and trial of the alleged involved persons in Mumbai strikes. It is evident that USA is more closer to India than Pakistan as they acknowledge India's stance on most of the issues and also take them up during meetings with Pakistan.

the question of what fruit would we yield from meeting raises another question: what fruits we want from it? trade, an end to drone, support in kashmir issue, stable afghanistan are few glimpses of our concerns.

"Always two there are, NO MORE NO LESS, a master and an apprentice."

being an apprentice in democratic nations hopes should be reined by rationality.

Why???

yes, as a matter of concern why would obama concede to our sky high demands whenever we talk of stopping drones one bitter question is asked that would you be able to limit these terrorists is it not okay for you that without boots on ground we are achieving our aims when we can do otherwise also. After salala attacks and abbotabad operation we can not boast about our military capabilities and condition of local law enforcement agencies is a total disaster.

Kashmir issue as always dumped under the decades old excuse of simla agreement signed soon after fall of dhaka

Lastly, we must not ask for aid rather we should ask for compensation of all the losses to our economy in war on terror

Nawaz and obama meeting is useless, its only a introductory meeting.Nawaz only get aid for Pakistan instead of trade and in returns:they sale out our respect and sovereignty.
Lack of planning and decision making also part play, before meeting they make out plan whats benifit takes from America but they plan only for energy crisis and aid.

Except matching ties and suits nothing matched in their Agenda. Our PM couldn't even persuade Obama to get access to US markets, let alone lethal issue of Drones.

Still a long way to go..
