Did Hijab cause hurdle in woman success?

On May 25th I have seen a talk show on “AAG Tv”. Their topic for discussion is “Did Hijab cause hurdle in woman success?” I want to know all of your opinion on this show. Anchors main focus points are their:
1. Hijab affect woman abilities and make a hardle in their work place.
2. People avoid woman with Hijab because they think this woman misbehave them and do not talk to them properly.
3. Woman with Hijab is immodest want to show others attitude and try to overwhelmed others.
4. If a woman with go with their boss on dinner and frank pass time with him them nothing wrong because she do every think for her progress.
5. Hijab effects on woman success. Do not work them properly in their filed. Like not piece of cloth but a piece of stone.
5. He rejects Banazir Bhotto, Hasina Wajid and Kahlda Zia success because they all wear Hijab because of their political circumstances. No other woman which is successful and wears Hijab.
6. According to his definition of Hijab, covering head and body. If woman come in normal dressing (means paint shirt or any other dress but not in Hijab or any other dress which completely cover body) she will be more successful.
7. Whole discussion is based on personal liking and disliking. No discussion on what Islam says.

Dear Friends its my first post and i am .:waiting waiting for your response on this important issue:tata

I have to say only one thing.
First you answer me
What is the biggest mosques of the world ?? QUABA
What is the greatest book of the world ?? Quran Majeed
Who are the greatest womens of the world ?? Muslim Womens

Remember that they all are put in Clothe, (You can say women in hijab).
So what is the matter, If womens are on a Hijab, they have given a greates honour. If they are doing hijab then they are avoiding their success.

i m agree with waqas . its not depend on the paint shirt but on the internal capabilities and qualities of a women .
what i percive"

i will prefer that famle who is the modest one in my office, class or any where.

i will give due respect to all females but my prefrence will be hijab

if a women show me her body or something else so it will be her misunderstanding

i am agree that most of the poor female act like ths but they has no believe in GOD Who is the Creator and Mercy

if i am the authoritarin one and some power vested to me then i will completly banned over the westren dress and impement hijab

(im sorry if any one hurt)

its the most perverted view to regard hijab as a hurdle in the way to success.a woman in hijab seems more respectable .this is all nonsense to think tht wearing jeans shirt make someone more professional or -----
blind following of west.

and wat about women who are in sports ...like our women cricket team....more so those who participate in racing ....should they also wear hijab with their feet trampling over ...hijab is a debatable term ...shuttle cock burka is not the sole criteria for hijab ....

Dear members!

The role of woman is as essential in a society as that of a man.A nation can not prosper if its fifty percent population is sitting idle.Islam is the religion of nature. It has fixed the responsibilities for both of them according to their nature.A lady in Hijab is respected more than the otherway around.ayet it is a cruel reality that a lady in Hijab is not liked as a personal secretary or at some management job.Whenever we see an advertisement for such a job, we see the condition of a charming personality attached to it.Now we all know what that means. So, Hijab causes problems for such ladies. They can not apply for such jobs.

We are living in a corporate culture , in which, presentation and outlook counts more than standard.I don't think that hijab wearing ladies can advance in such a culture , in which, the delicate sex has been made a show piece only.If a teacher wears hijab , she can not communicate easily with her students in co-education.She can not become a model.I didn't come across a hijab wearing lady at some top job.So, she had to sacrify one of her choices, hijab or career.

In personal or professional meetings hand-shaking is very effective way to express the warmth of emotions or goodwill. When you embrace someone , you are creating a cordial and friendly relation. This hand-shaking and embracing creates a lot of difference. You know, in our social set-up that is not possible for ladies. It is bit irritating, but a fact that hijab causes hurdle in the advancement of ladies in ceratain careers.

The solution lies in the following of Islamic teachings. There should be categorization of professions for ladies , where they could excel without sacrifying their hijab.

assalamualikum,

i want to share one of my friend's experience, she has got the job in one of the multinational company(i think its will not look nice if i mention the name of that company),then after 3 or 4 days of her job one of her officer said that if u want to go with us then u have to stop covering your head...
she said nothing him and quietly left that job...

i want to ask that was that not a hurdle in her life ??? here one can say that it was the "aazmaaish" from Allah...etc etc no doubt about it but the thing is now a days our society or you can say that this musharaf's ENLIGHTENED MODERATION concept is directing people in the wrong direction...one of my friend is studying in AMC(army medical college) and one day she told me that in their last convocation musharaf has said this indirectly that "scarf is not the symbol of modesty..."

sir waqas if i am not wrong that you are MS.c in telecom and i have heard,
in one of the telecom company, it is compulsory for their female employees to wear that three peice suit during presentation round, its a compulsory dress code there...
please,i want all of yours guidance in this regard.

jazakALLAH khair

Asma

Dear 555,
i am convinced with you and confirm what did u say.but problems lies with us brother,(i apologize if you are sister) we, being muslim, are trying to get rid of Hijab, Nowadays what we male say about the Hijab does not matter but Women themselves are very busy and motivated to leave scarf or other things that helps covers their face or modesty.and it has been an international issue too; you can easily see the restriction and prohibition for Hijab in west. same happens here i dont say that pakistan government tries to prohibit veil but as asma qouted that indirectly Musharraf said that.well,
we should do what ISLAM says; it doesnt matter what people say, are not important for us the dictums and orders that our Holy Prophet has made? we just need to follow them;everything will be fine.i have some notes and knowledge regarding this matter, i want to share with you and wait for your arguments.

Hijab For Women.

Assalam Allaikum,
Though this heated topic relates to islamic studies but i am going to post it here in discuusion area;as it has been very common and important one and has been argued and disscussed a lot.

HIJAAB FOR WOMEN:

The status of women in Islam is often the target of attacks in the secular media. The ‘hijaab’ or the Islamic dress is cited by many as an example of the ‘subjugation’ of women under Islamic law. Before we analyze the reasoning behind the religiously mandated ‘hijaab’, let us first study the status of women in societies before the advent of Islam.

1. In the past women were degraded and used as objects of lust:

The following examples from history amply illustrate the fact that the status of women in earlier civilizations was very low to the extent that they were denied basic human dignity:

Babylonian Civilization:
The women were degraded and were denied all rights under the Babylonian law. If a man murdered a woman, instead of him being punished, his wife was put to death.

Greek Civilization:
Greek Civilization is considered the most glorious of all ancient civilizations. Under this very ‘glorious’ system, women were deprived of all rights and were looked down upon. In Greek mythology, an ‘imaginary woman’ called ‘Pandora’ is the root cause of misfortune of human beings. The Greeks considered women to be subhuman and inferior to men. Though chastity of women was precious, and women were held in high esteem, the Greeks were later overwhelmed by ego and sexual perversions. Prostitution became a regular practice amongst all classes of Greek society.

Roman Civilization:
When Roman Civilization was at the zenith of its ‘glory’, a man even had the right to take the life of his wife. Prostitution and nudity were common amongst the Romans.

Egyptian Civilization:
The Egyptian considered women evil and as a sign of a devil.

Pre-Islamic Arabia:
Before Islam spread in Arabia, the Arabs looked down upon women and very often when a female child was born, she was buried alive.

2. Islam uplifted women and gave them equality and expects them to maintain their status.

Islam uplifted the status of women and granted them their just rights 1400 years ago. Islam expects women to maintain their status.

Hijaab for men:

People usually only discuss ‘hijaab’ in the context of women. However, in the Glorious Qur’an, Allah (swt) first mentions ‘hijaab’ for men before ‘hijaab’ for the women. The Qur’an mentions in Surah Noor:

"Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do."
[Al-Qur’an 24:30]

The moment a man looks at a woman and if any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he should lower his gaze.

Hijaab for women.

The next verse of Surah Noor, says:

" And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands’ fathers, their sons..."
[Al-Qur’an 24:31]

3. Six criteria for Hijaab.

According to Qur’an and Sunnah there are basically six criteria for observing hijaab:

Extent:

The first criterion is the extent of the body that should be covered. This is different for men and women. The extent of covering obligatory on the male is to cover the body at least from the navel to the knees. For women, the extent of covering obligatory is to cover the complete body except the face and the hands upto the wrist. If they wish to, they can cover even these parts of the body. Some scholars of Islam insist that the face and the hands are part of the obligatory extent of ‘hijaab’.

All the remaining five criteria are the same for men and women.

The clothes worn should be loose and should not reveal the figure.

The clothes worn should not be transparent such that one can see through them.

The clothes worn should not be so glamorous as to attract the opposite sex.

The clothes worn should not resemble that of the opposite sex.

The clothes worn should not resemble that of the unbelievers i.e. they should not wear clothes that are specifically identities or symbols of the unbelievers’ religions.

4. Hijaab includes conduct and behaviour among other things

Complete ‘hijaab’, besides the six criteria of clothing, also includes the moral conduct, behaviour, attitude and intention of the individual. A person only fulfilling the criteria of ‘hijaab’ of the clothes is observing ‘hijaab’ in a limited sense. ‘Hijaab’ of the clothes should be accompanied by ‘hijaab’ of the eyes, ‘hijaab’ of the heart, ‘hijaab’ of thought and ‘hijaab’ of intention. It also includes the way a person walks, the way a person talks, the way he behaves, etc.

5. Hijaab prevents molestation:

The reason why Hijaab is prescribed for women is mentioned in the Qur’an in the following verses of Surah Al-Ahzab:

"O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad); that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."
[Al-Qur’an 33:59]

The Qur’an says that Hijaab has been prescribed for the women so that they are recognized as modest women and this will also prevent them from being molested.

6. Example of twin sisters:

Suppose two sisters who are twins, and who are equally beautiful, walk down the street. One of them is attired in the Islamic hijaab i.e. the complete body is covered, except for the face and the hands up to the wrists. The other sister is wearing western clothes, a mini skirt or shorts. Just around the corner there is a hooligan or ruffian who is waiting for a catch, to tease a girl. Whom will he tease? The girl wearing the Islamic Hijaab or the girl wearing the skirt or the mini? Naturally he will tease the girl wearing the skirt or the mini. Such dresses are an indirect invitation to the opposite sex for teasing and molestation. The Qur’an rightly says that hijaab prevents women from being molested.

7. Capital punishment for the rapists;

Under the Islamic shariah, a man convicted of having raped a woman, is given capital punishment. Many are astonished at this ‘harsh’ sentence. Some even say that Islam is a ruthless, barbaric religion! I have asked a simple question to hundreds of non-Muslim men. Suppose, God forbid, someone rapes your wife, your mother or your sister. You are made the judge and the rapist is brought in front of you. What punishment would you give him? All of them said they would put him to death. Some went to the extent of saying they would torture him to death. To them I ask, if someone rapes your wife or your mother you want to put him to death. But if the same crime is committed on somebody else’s wife or daughter you say capital punishment is barbaric. Why should there be double standards?

8. Western society falsely claims to have uplifted women

Western talk of women’s liberalization is nothing but a disguised form of exploitation of her body, degradation of her soul, and deprivation of her honour. Western society claims to have ‘uplifted’ women. On the contrary it has actually degraded them to the status of concubines, mistresses and society butterflies who are mere tools in the hands of pleasure seekers and sex marketeers, hidden behind the colourful screen of ‘art’ and ‘culture’.

9. USA has one of the highest rates of rape:

United States of America is supposed to be one of the most advanced countries of the world. It also has one of the highest rates of rape in any country in the world. According to a FBI report, in the year 1990, every day on an average 1756 cases of rape were committed in U.S.A alone. Later another report said that on an average everyday 1900 cases of rapes are committed in USA. The year was not mentioned. May be it was 1992 or 1993. May be the Americans got ‘bolder’ in the following years.

Consider a scenario where the Islamic hijaab is followed in America. Whenever a man looks at a woman and any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he lowers his gaze. Every woman wears the Islamic hijaab, that is the complete body is covered except the face and the hands upto the wrist. After this if any man commits rape he is given capital punishment. I ask you, in such a scenario, will the rate of rape in America increase, will it remain the same, or will it decrease?

10. Implementation of Islamic Shariah will reduce the rate of rapes:

Naturally as soon as Islamic Shariah is implemented positive results will be inevitable. If Islamic Shariah is implemented in any part of the world, whether it is America or Europe, society will breathe easier. Hijaab does not degrade a woman but uplifts a woman and protects her modesty and chastity.

Asif Soomro.

@aadarsh
Firstly, i am a brother. Now, the topic is 'Does hijab cause hurdle?'.Unfortunately, the answer is yes.The VC of UET Lahore addressing to the CRs meeting recently said"I encourage girls to wear jeans ans T-shirts in the campus. You are enginers and must look like engineers."He is a retired general. Now, you can guess what kind of grooming is being done in our institutions. While addressing to the 2006 session'welcome function he said that i asked the Chairman Elect.Engg deptt , how many of the girls of recently passed out session. The chairman said to me that only two of them could noet get the job because their only visible part was their eyes. So, girls must dress up according to the changing requirements.

What else is left now?
