ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi said that talks on funding for F-16 has not ended with the United States, adding that it is duty of Obama administration to persuade congress.

In an interview with a private TV channel in London today, the special assistant said that the US administration’s military assistance offer to Pakistan still exists.

Tariq Fatemi said, “Pakistan case is very strong as it has been playing vital role against terrorism and hopes it will be provided with aid. US knows the importance of F-16 jets in war against terrorism.”

He added that Pakistan has an expenditure of two billion dollars in the operation against terrorism and the operation will be helpful for countries of the region and Pakistan, America and Afghanistan.

Fatemi stated that a sentiment against the provision of military and financial aid to foreign countries was found within the Congress.

Answering a question regarding the Congress denial of approving an aid offered by the US government for the purchase of F-16 fighter jets, Fatemi stated that this deal was not over yet.
