The Disastrous Impacts Of Climate Change In Pakistan
Climate change has been impacting weather conditions through out not only other parts of the world but Pakistan for last several decades. The most recent hit by climate change has been with heavy rainfall lasting longer than one month as monsoon season in summer (July-August, 2022) causing heavy floods in all the provinces of Pakistan. Sindh has been the province worst affected by the floods in Pakistan.
This natural disaster has cost*too many innocent lives where death toll raised upto thousands. It has caused not only mortalities, injuries but demolition of precious assets of the villagers, landlords, farmers and bussinessmen. The homes and hotels have fallen to pieces where devastating floods came in the country. Mud houses of the villagers were washed away and their fields were submerged by the davastating flood in the worst hit province Sindh leaving everyone homeless and hopeless. The people are starving, dying and falling sick. Diverse ailments have impacted the flood affectees owing to standing water into submerged vicinities of Sindh and other provinces of Pakistan like Malaria, Dengue, Gastro, Skin disease etc. Homeless people are in severe need of tents, food, clean water, medicine, money, etc they are unfortunately compelled to live under open sky day and night with their children and infants. Pregnant women are among them too. Having cerebrated the reason of immense damage by floods, people have unearthed the pivatol reason that flood water doesn’t get the paths towards rivers and ocean everytime. Those paths which are identified in the map for passing flood water towards rivers and ocean have been taken by the people. People have constructed factories, houses and other buildings on those paths causing diversion of flood water towards residential areas of villages and cities but indentified paths. To mitigate the hazards of huge damage by floods we must avert all the illicit constructions from identified paths for passing the flood water towards rivers and ocean safely. International communities should help Pakistan during this crisis. Written by Shahjehan Soomro |
