5G is the 5th generation mobile network. It is a new global wireless standard after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. 5G enables a new kind of network that is designed to connect virtually everyone and everything together including machines, objects, and devices.

5G wireless technology is meant to deliver higher multi-Gbps peak data speeds, ultra low latency, more reliability, massive network capacity, increased availability, and a more uniform user experience to more users. Higher performance and improved efficiency empower new user experiences and connects new industries.

5G is based on OFDM (Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing), a method of modulating a digital signal across several different channels to reduce interference. 5G uses 5G NR air interface alongside OFDM principles. 5G also uses wider bandwidth technologies such as sub-6 GHz and mmWave.

There are pros and cons to 5G technology.
5G is 100 times faster than 4G. 5G will help us have higher speed in downloading video games, playing video games online, watching videos and movies, and using other streaming services. It is quite ideal for industries and import and export methods in the country. In addition, it is immensely used in AI stuff actively like 3D video conferencing, autonomous driving (driverless cars), and drones (flying taxis, delivery drones, etc.).

Its cons are that the installation of 5G towers is very expensive, so it will take a few years for 5G technology to spread worldwide with availability. In one country, flights got cancelled due to this technology’s impacts.

5G peak download speed: 2.5 GB/s (gigabytes per second), or*2,560 MB/s*(megabytes per second) 5G peak upload speed: 1.25 GB/s (gigabytes per second), or 1,280 MB/s (megabytes per second).

China has launched Satellite for 6G in November, 2020. 6G will be 100 times faster than 5G.
