Law And Order Situation In Pakistan

The situation was way more intense and worse at Zaman Park, Lahore, on 14 March, 2023, when Imran Khan’s supporters clashed with police. The Zaman Park was under seige while clashes between police and Imran Khan’s supporters. The court issued a non-bailable warrant of arrest for Imran Khan, whereas Imran Khan used a human shield to protect himself from being apprehended by the police. His supporters kept resisting the police.

Even if the police demanded that supporters of IM be dispersed, they were resisting the police and being constraints in booking IM. However, it is suggested that police be depoliticized, then everything would be okay, and the law enforcement forces could make sure there was rule of law in the country and we could ditch such incidents going forward.

The supporters of IM were not just equipped with patrol bombs; they were also throwing stones at the police. Police had to use tear gas, shelling, and lathicharge so as to disperse the crowd.

The anti-state media exploited that incident to promote against Pakistan while that clash with the police was being televised all over the world, giving the wrong image of the country.

As far as IM claimed to be a prominent politician, he was hiding from the police who came to detain him at his residence in Lahore. As soon as the court summoned IM, he should have gotten to the court but used a human shield.

The police took precautions while supporters of IM were having clashes with them. There would be diverse mortalities if the police were to take stern action against the crowd so as to book IM for pursuing the non-bailable warrant of arrest against him.*
