It is heartening to see that despite the state of the nation - be it political ups and downs or the ever increasing socio-economic crises, the youth of Pakistan are finally rising from their slumber and collectively working towards giving a voice to democracy and issues that are pertinent to the future of the country. The country has seen many student organizations in the past, but sadly they are linked to specific political parties and only serve to carry on their political agenda. Serving as henchmen to the various political factions, often in a negative manner is certainly not the solution. The need of the hour then is for the young, educated, and enlightened youths of the country to unite, not for any personal gain, or political motives but rather for Pakistan - our country, our nation, our homeland.

To that end, one must applaud Levi Strauss & Co for acknowledging this need to unite Pakistan's youth and the leader's of tomorrow on a cohesive and common platform. For this very cause they have introduced to the nation a bilingual and innovative social service campaign urging Pakistani's to wear their solidarity. The inspiration behind this movement is the youth of Pakistan, indeed the future of this country and the message's appeal lies in the concept of wearing one's identity with pride and in unity.

By spreading the message of camaraderie and encouraging social cohesion, Levi's is unique in that they believe in engaging and encouraging today's youth to stand up and be part of a solution rather than serving as passive bystanders.

The campaign is a visual representation of the facets surrounding the notion of a solid and united Pakistan, complete with the flag of the country in a demonstration of patriotism, the young man as a symbolic representation of the youth and the photographer in the distance, documenting the movement towards patriotism, equality and unity.

If all socially responsible elements of the society were to work towards this goal perhaps one day we can all breathe easier and look forward to a prosperous Pakistan - one that looks to the past only for a lesson of what its future will not share, learning the lessons but ensuring what follows is truly the making of the complete dream of the father of our nation and those valiant fighters of freedom that gave their lives for the formation of a piece of land located in South Asia.
