Default Temporary but likely to Continue

Can anybody throw some light on the term "Temporary but likely to continue" written with several positions in current FPSC advertisement? Does this means that that these jobs are on contract basis? I ll be indebted for your kind attention.

"Temporary" term is used for those jobs which will be continued/confirmed as permanent jobs after successful completion of probationary period subject to satisfactory performance. After confirmation in the job as permanent employee you will be entitled to all the perks/privileges/incentives/schemes which a permanent employee enjoys in normal course of business.

"Contract" word is used for those jobs which are intended to be for any specific time period/specific project/assignment/task. Such jobs are not supposed to be continued/confirmed/permanent after completion of contract period/project. However; in certain exceptional cases, these contracts are extended or renewed for some additional tenure but these jobs still remain contractual. Contractual employees do not enjoy regular perks and privileges/allowances which a permanent employee enjoys. Apparently, in most of the cases monetized current salary of contractual employees is on higher side than the regular permanent employees due to the fact that contractual employees are not allowed other benefits like pensions, medical, gratuity, insurance in certain cases. As contractual employees are deprived from such incentives/entitlements hence organizations compensate them in terms of rise in current take home salary.

Regards.

Certainly , it describes the nature of the very contract between the employer and the employee. Unlike permanant status , the contractual employee will be entitled to only specific perks and privileges. No Pension, No Graduty , and unavailabity of several allowances. But one must avail these opportunities as something is worthy than nothing

Brother Raz has briefed about temporary and contract posts, just to add up about nomenclature of advertisement. "Temporary but likely to continue" is the term used in advertisements of Public Service Commission for filling the temporary posts, which have been created by the government for performing certain functions and are likely to become permanent considering the nature of job to be performed by the individuals.

Conversely, if it has explicitly been mentioned at the advertisement that the post is purely temporary then such government servants are not likely to be employed permanently.

Further, till time the post remains temporary and is not converted into permanent nature (posts are at first created as temporary for different duration usually 6 months and their nature is extended time to time by Finance Division considering the works performed by that slot), the government servant cannot be confirmed on that post. But as said by Raz, he/she can enjoy all pricks and privileges of a government servant.

To sum up, there is really no need to worry for this nomenclature, so apply for job and compete well, at the end you will be a government servant.

Regards

Thanks Brother,
What happens in the case where the advertisement says '' on purely temporary basis''?? should employee expect these positions to be permanent at some time or the individual just have to work for the department for certain period of time and then has leaves the job???

That means an employee is on probation for maximum period of two years and that probation can be extended under civil service act.

"Temporary but likely to continue" jobs are permanent govt jobs. I found it when i was selected by FPSC. So no worries of it being contract etc. Good luck all.

"his appointment will be on temporary basis and will not confer on him any title to or claim for permanent or continued appointment in this ministry"

Seniors please clear it, does it mean temporary or permanent job? Or is it temporary till probation period?
