You must go for it. If you did not pass it, at least you will come in a formal study mode, which will benefit you in the long run for C.S.S.

Sure InshaAllah. Just follow the forum regularly, I too was once very confused about the optional subjects after being hit badly in CSS attempt of 2012. I don't know your academic background so wont be able to suggest what core subjects you must go with. Further, everybody's interest differ so its very hard to predict what subjects might be helpful for different candidates.
Anyhow, the rule is simple go with the interest, background and subjects inter-related rather than picking one, everybody was going with. Then there are thugs in publishing sector who just waste our time by producing sub-standard guides for competitive exam. They earn a lot but we score less. And afterwards we blame commission or examiners. At-least I have gone through this. I'd just forward the advise what I had been given on this forum, which proved fruitful.
Try to consult suggested readings by the commission, whichever subjects you opt. Then read word by word and line by line taking out your own notes as those would be helpful in revision.

If you can prepare for it within specified short time....then you should....Otherwise you have to wait for next attempts if you don't want to attempt blankly because you would have still 5 years as per your current age of 25 years

Dear Abbas, i went through syllabus and worked on it. Here's my tentive list of optional subjects, need some help in 2 of them:

Physics (200)
Indo Pak History (200)
Muslim law and jurisprudence (100)

For 100 more marks i was going for computer BUT when i checked the syllabus, the 100 marks don't justify it. So decided to look around for some other subject. How is IR?
PLUS also need suggestion on Indo-Pak history, or History of USA? what would you prefer

P.S as i said earlier i had done electronics engineering so i had no background in any sub other than related to science.
