Default Sociology Vs Journalism

Dear fellow members please share your opinion on whether one should opt for sociology or journalism, please share your opinion regarding the following points.

1-Amount of material to cover?
2-Which subject is more generic? easier to cover for someone with no background?
3-Amount of "ratta" required?
4-Which subject is more technical?

Your valuable contribution will be most appreciated.

I took both subjects in CE 2015, no idea about KPPSC though. Both are nice subjects and easy to cover without any background. But I will tell you that Journalism is much shorter than Sociology. Journalism is comparatively easier too.

1-Amount of material to cover? Journalism<Sociology
2-Which subject is more generic? easier to cover for someone with no background? Journalism
3-Amount of "ratta" required? Ratta is an important aspect of Pakistani system but I think again Journalism<Sociology
4-Which subject is more technical? Journalism<Sociology (More technical)

dear brother
syllabus of journalism is short as compared to sociology
both subjects are highly generic and easy but journalism is easier.
You have to make ratta on only a few topics in journalism.
As for as technicality is concerned, it depends on the examiner. He may make a technical paper out of a non technical paper. There are some technicalities in both subjects though but not too much.
Regards

Thank you for your replies, i have heard from many people that journalism course is very short but what concerns me is the nature of the questions in the last few years of journalism papers.

Is it fair to say that engineering students are at some disadvantage in journalism as compared to Business and students of different administrative and art subjects ?

no all are quite at the same level in journalism. The paper is highly analytical in journalism. But it is a scoring subject. If you have firm grip over this subject you can easily cross 70 marks target.

you should ponder on opting International Law as well. Course is comparatively less then sociology, can be covered in a week easily, and scoring trend is better then sociology plus journalism.

I opted both sociology and journalism in my last attempt in PMS. Both subjects are easy to cover. Journalism course is short as compared to sociology. If you look at the papers of last exam you will note that sociology paper was very easy but candidates scores was below average, infact most candidates failed sociology. On the other hand journalism paper seems difficult and general in nature, candidates scored 75+ in it.
