Accomodation depends upon the accomodation facilities of the govt in that particular area. One of our senior colleagues is DDO( JUDDICIAL), but he is staying in some hostel after having two years service. So it varies from area to area. When a person is appointed as APA, then he really enjoys some extra perks and previleges like accomodation and vehicle after their immediate postings. but posting in other field may take some time. there is no luxury facility provided to them. Only the accomodation of BPS-17 is provided. No big difference of allownces. As i have mentioned in my some earlier posts that there is some difference of pay b/w the officers of secretariat and field but it is not big enough to make one group superior. |

pms training
ok thank u v much for the detailed reply.now coming back on the preparations of pms/css.some people say that theoretical papers count only 40 percent.it is interview which plays a role in final selection,although i previously thought opposite of it.but people also say that interview for css and in issb etc are taken systematically,mathematically ,in a calculated manner against certain standards ,i mean candidates are checked against certain parameters which also contain the aspects and qualities specifically required for these types of services,.internationally also intervews are taken in a type of fixed frames of standards ,which are made according to the requirement of the job ,and through these frames all the candidates are passed through certain questions and discussions by the panel which consists of highly qualified people in these things,bt in our pms there is a different type of interview which is taken which is not prefixed or planned and is of general in type.plz comment on these especially those people who have undergone through all these interviews.thanks

@ Iffat:
Some of the participants of PMS training-2012 were selected(allocated) in CSS-2011. Have they left PMS? or preferred PMS over CSS? For instance, Ayesha Asad has been allocated in IRS whereas Shehbaz Ellahi has been allocated in PSP. Have they left you guys or still undergoing training?
(I am asking this in order to know, whether PMS is better or CSS? Or is it so that a few groups of CSS are superior than PMS while others are inferior to PMS? If it is the case, then plz mention those groups for guidance of aspirants of both the services?)

If I may interject here, yes, sir hazara tiger they have left.
As to your second question, I think CSS is much better than PMS. If I were allocated in both CSS and PMS I would surely go for any CSS group except postal. That's not to say that PMS isn't good. It is. It's a kind of provincial DMG. I would place PMS slightly lower than CSS. |

@hazara tiger
Sorry I couldn't furnish you with reasons why I rate CSS better than PMS. The reasons for me are, first, promotion in CSS is twice as quick as PMS,second, CSS is national service whereas PMS, provincial. Besides, i've come to know by word of mouth that each and every group in CSS has some positives attached to it. Like DMG/PSP etc. might wield power, OMGians get promoted to Grade-18 within two years of their service. As is the case with postal. I heard someone say that postal group wallahs can give jobs/induct people upto grade-7 in their deptt.
To know more about PMS and CSS and to know which is better you might want to visit threads by the names 'css vs pms' and 'css or pms' on this forum. |

Yeah he is right that in CSS, promotion is much rapid rate than PMS. but in i think FSP,PSP,Custom, PAS, are better than PMS,otherwise PMS has superiority over all other groups. yeah, promotion rate is far much better than PMS. at federal level a person can be promoted within 5 years, but it would take some 8-10 years to be promoted in next scale. But if a person can not get allocation in FSP,PSP,or PAS then he should retain his position as PMS Officer. Now the Punjab Govt has decided to promote all the section Officers in BPS 18, KPK govt has also decided to induct all section officers in BPS 18 from onward. It is not that much bad group. Social recognition, which is an important factor in joining the civil service, can be observed in this group. A person who is appointed as APA, AC would not prefer to join IRS, Information,Postal or Railway later on. A group of 5-6 persons in our senior batch left judiciary and joined PMS cadre.

Anyone who knows for sure:
is the training completed? What was the exact number of trainees? how many left the training without completing it and never came back? ( their future as PMS officers) how many were late joiners?( their names were not present in the original list of appointees but they were from amongst the qualifiers?

Miss iffat ambreen
What you said are sky clear facts. There is a big difference of intentions between a non pms/css and pms/css persons. So they are unable to identify the prestigious groups of civil service. People join PAS and Police group just to enjoy field postings and this opportunity, nowadays, is being enjoyed by PMS officers. Here, PMS dominate over all groups.
