Lightbulb Office Assistant vs Inspector Excise &Taxation?
Salam Kids,
Which one post is better in process of promotion and other previlliges, though one is BPS-16 while other is BPS -15?

If Office Assistant is that of the Establishment Department, then it's far better than that of Inspector (ET&NC). Always keep the Service Structure in your mind SON rather than the opportunities that a post can afford for minting money through UFM!

For an Office Assistant (OA), Establishment-Secretariat Employee,, it may take some 6-9 for becoming a Superintendent and some 4-5 years onward to become a Section Officer. The span estimates are in approximation! Moreover, after completion of 5 years Continuous Service, an OA becomes eligible for PMS meant for the In Service lot of the secretariat. Lastly, it depends on one's age, if a younger person (say at the age of 20 years) joins the job, s/he may reach to the stage of a Grade-20 officer, but a person in the vicinity of 30 may end up as a Deputy or an Additional Secretary, so, you see, this job is full of opportunities! Regards

First of all Inspector E & T is in BS 14 currently but will hopefully be upgraded soon to BS 16. Secondly, authority wise Inspector is way better than Assistant. Assistants mostly do all the donkey work in Govt Offices dealing with file work etc. And lastly, if you are an Office Assistant forget about promotion unless you qualify the promotional exam for section officers held by FPSC. Without it you would be lucky to get even a single promotion in 20 odd years.

Well, your expression is impressive lad! but let me tell you that Inspector (ET&NC) serves in BPS-15 (since July 2015-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa-and I think that this lad is talking about KP) and not BPS-14 as you're mentioning. Secondly, there are different cadres of Office Assistants in different government departments. Among the several cadres, OAs of Establishment Department are considered as the privileged lot owing to the additional amounts they're pocketing in terms of Secretariat Allowance et al. Moreover, they've got an impressive service structure too. Get informed yourself about the job of an ET&NC Inspector and you'll find it less attractive than that of an OA, you bet! There's just one attraction: getting hold of impounded vehicles and minting money as bribes. Regards
