perks and privileges of office assistant BS-16 in establishment department
 

by the grace of Allah i have been selected for the office assistant post in establishment department.thanks to all all those members of this forum who guided me from time to time whenever i needed help.now once again i need help from the senior members plz tell me about perks and privileges of this post so that it would be easy for me to decide as i am already BS 16 teacher..

i would suggest to remain in teaching field if you are a permanent teacher and stay away from a job full of tension.

First of all, I would like to congratulate you, then I would like to shed some light on the post you've qualified for: 1. It's a clerical post but with better future prospects in terms of promotion. 2. There's a special allowance permissible for the Secretariat Employees with a high Basic Pay than the other government employees draw from the Provincial Ketty. 3. It's an administrative and exacting/exhausting job. 4. It's a good job in terms of grooming opportunities and mental training. There are many lady OAs working in the secretariat, you should consult them for making a cool and calcultaive decision. Good luck!

And a friend of mine says that office assistants will get the powers of an assistant commissioner once they are promoted to bs-17

but the question is how long will it take for OA to get promoted to bs 17..i am also worried about residence as i am not from peshawar..

Well, your friend is wrong! It may take some some 6-8 years for an OA to be promoted to the status of a superintendent, then after serving for some 4-5 years in that capacity, s/he may get the status of a Section Officer (becoming a part of the erstwhile Secretariat Group). But yes, those who've got strong connections can get field assigments too.

Don't worry about that part. Get married and get yourself shifted to Peshawar for good as there won't be any transfers from the Civil Secretariat to any other field districts lol (pun intended).

Perks of assistant in Establishment Department.

a. Better Service structure: u can go as far as Secretary i. e bps. 20 if not, additional secretary bps-19 is sure.
b. Salary and incentives much better than attach department assistant.30% Secretariat allowance on basic pay.
c. Relax working environment. Workers go to offices 9am to 10 am no strict restrictions.
d. No posting transfer. U wil b working in Secretariat Peshawar rotating in 24 or 32 departments of Secretariat
e. Serving aftr 5 years wil make u eligible for Secretariat's pms posts which are exclusively reserved for Secretariat employes and u hav only 4 papers instead of 12 and that four papers are related to your job
e.g esta code, Secretariat manual, gfr etc.
f. When u hit the mark of section officer on promotion after 9-10 years from initial recruitment (it wil take 7 years maximum to promote to superintendent and then 1 or 1 n half year to section officer). Once u r section officer, you entered into pms cadre and u can be posted as AC as well means u become pms officer.

I am sharing these info being working in Civil Secretariat Peshawar.

actually they announced result of interview on the day of interview.then after some days i visited kppsc office so as to confirm my selection .they said i have been selected and they will send me intimation letter after some days..

I agree with the comments of Adil Kheshgi but promotion is not better, you will get retired either as a Section Officer or in rare cases Deputy Secretary.
Yes special allowance permissible (4 to 5 thousand) for the Secretariat Employees for BS-16.

There are many lady OAs working in the secretariat, you should consult them for making a cool decision(agreed).
how long will it take for OA to get promoted to bs 17 (at least 10 years to the post of superintendent).
Worried about residence as i am not from Peshawar (a major problem for all).

Sara if you are interested than retain lien certificate from Education department (if you are a permanent teacher) and join the post of OA, test the new job for a final decision at your end.
