Political Science-I



Time allowed: 3 hours

Note:Attempt Five questions in all selecting at least two questions from each section.All questions carry equal marks.



Section-A


Q.1 Evaluate Plato's theory of Justice and point out the techniques he proposes to use for implementing justice.

Q.2 "Aristotle's views on the enfs and functions of the state clearly suggest that he was realist in his approach and not an idealist". Elucidate.

Q.3 Give a detailed account of Machiavelli's views about the role of morality in politics.

Q.4 Point out the contribution of Bentham to Utilitarianism.


Section-B


Q.5 Highlight the Services of Al-Ghazali to Islamic political Thought.

Q.6 " The ideas of Hobbes and Locke had a deeper impact on Rousseau's theory of population sovereignty ". Explain.

Q.7 " The devolution plan of 2001 was a marked improvement on the earlier system of 1979". Explain the statement with reference to the institutional changes which the former introduced at Pakistan's grassroots level.

Part-I


Q.1 "Presidency in America is an institute which is deeply coloured in the American mood and culture". Analyse the position of American president in the light of the statement.

Q.2 "Conventions occupy an important place in the British system of Governance and have contributed significantly in converting a hereditary monarchy into democracy". Analyse the statement by referring to the important conventions.

Q.3 Compare the powers and functions of the British House of Commons with the National Assembly of France.



Part-II


Q.4 Discuss the changing facets of federalism in Pakistan under the constitution of 1973.

Q.5 Why are the political institutions stronger in India and weaker in Pakistan.Substantiate your view point with strong arguments.

Q.6 Do you agree with the view that Mustafa Kamal Pasha's political philosophy provided an ideological foundation and stability to the Turkish political system.

Q.7 What are the striking points of contrast of constitutions of Pakistan and India?
