KHYBER PUKHTOONKHWA PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION
COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION FOR THE POST OF PMS(BPS-17)


Paper: JOURNALISM
Time Allowed : 03 Hours
Max Marks : 100

Note : Attempt Only FIVE questions . All questions carrry Equal Marks(20 Each).

Qno.1 : Define media ethics and also describe primary sources for furnishing those?

Qno.2 : Objectivity is a much needed characteristic of a reporter in covering the stories especially political news. Discuss.

Qno.3 : How can an advertiser increase brand awareness while following principles of advertising? blink

Qno.4 : Write down a comprehensive note on importance of free and responsible press in a democratic society?

Qno.5 : What type of role can "News Magazines" play in political socialisation of youth?

Qno.6 : Do you think that Broadcast media is deviating from its standard role in Pakistan.?. Answer should be argumentative.

Qno.7 : Describe in detail purpose and scope of Public relations.\

Qno.8 : Write a critique on World Information Order.

The paper was a balanced, analytic and argumentative one.
A generalised approach is used at its best keeping in view all important topics.

It was paper of generalism, not Journalism.
We were not expecting such a paper in PMS. Anyways all went well.

They have followed the pattern of CSS papers this time.
The majority of the candidates at least in our centre was sitting idle first 15 minutes, thinking what stuff to write.
I feel that original competition occurs in such kind of papers , that candidates not sure about their writing material also.

My brother it is not original competition. Journalism is an optional paper and those who've opted it will bear the brunt. All other candidates will take the lead. they should have set such kind of pattern in compulsory papers.

at least it was not for the crammers ...i further expect-from PMS-such kind of papers,as this is the true evaluation of a candidate...

Yes dear your are right.All our optional subjects papers were such like this journalism paper of today. They had been set more tough than css papers. Compulsory papers except islamiyat were very easy.But competition will be tough this time.

Yes dear. But cramming was necessary. Especially in advertising question, PR, responsibility of press. Any how optional papers were really appreciating this time. Their set resembled css papers. Let there should be css like marking to sift the deserving candidates only.
