Android "Data protection" pattern forgotten

Any Android expert here? i have forgotten "data protection pattern" in my cell, its Adroid version 5 Lolipop. kindly share if there is some possibility to remove/unlock the pattern.

Use your gmail account to login if you have connected your cell with Gmail otherwise reset. Resetting will result in loss of the data.No other solution as afar as I know.

I executed a hard reset , it removed the pattern from data protection, but those protected (secured) files give error "unlock failed", and the info says " DRM license not found ". Though these files are open for sharring now, they have .mudp file extension. I don't know where to get that DRM license from, checked all the relevant web pages, but no use.

If you cannot use your gmail account, then follow this:

Step 1: Reset your phone
Step 2: Recover your data.

For data recover you can use Desktop Client Applications (or Android application from play store).
