SIM Information and Verification System - 668

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has developed a SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) information and Verification system to address associated risks on security and to ensure subscription regulations in cellular sector.

The objective of the project is to provide a consumer-based facility to mobile subscribers in Pakistan by which they would be able to find out the total number of SIM(s) registered against their respective CNIC number with each mobile operator.

It shows 3 Telenor sims against my ID card. I went to Telenor customer care yesterday they checked and said I had only one sim issued against my ID card. The record at PTA is not updated.
Anyone else having the same issue?

I was working in a telecom sector. I would like to share some information with you people.

There are many sims illegally registered by unknown ID cards so that's why it is shown on PTA website or receiving message by 668.

If any one goes to any cellular company office they will not provide numbers detail as per PTA policy. Cellular company asks from complainant the detail of his/her number only.

For example if anyone has 0333 1111122 number with his/her CNIC the cellular company send messages to other than this numbers " Visit our business centre or franchise and register you sim with your original CNIC otherwise your sim will be blocked"

If anyone wants to know the detail of numbers those shown on CNIC the cellular company does not provided any data other than your existing number you know as per PTA instructions.

If you complain that you have only one number against your CNIC but 668 messages shows 5 numbers from same network. The cellular company gives a form to complainant to fill it and asks his/her CNIC for cancelling other numbers from his/her CNIC. The time requires 48 hours. Within 48 hours the PTA data automatically rectify the information.

If any one comes and says that I received this message or my number is not with my CNIC since I used it more than 03 years. Telecom Company demands 10 -15 numbers call history which was done in a month. If anyone provides the required information the cellular company after verification transfer sim to given CNIC if fails to provide the information the sim will be blocked.

Now the new rule by PTA only one can retain 05 sims against his/her CNIC. 05 sim means from all nework such as Ufone 1 Warid 2 Mobilink 1 Zong 1.

In past anyone can retain 25 sims against one CNIC.

But we see many sims were registered against one CNIC. It will takes some time by PTA to cancel all extra sims except 05 sims. PTA instructs Telecom Company to do this, telecom sector is bound with the instructions of PTA. If PTA does strong audit the problem will resolve soon.
