Tell me my exact location through ip

Asking for educational purposes, is it possible for management that they can tell the exact location of a user through his/her ip address.

PS:Your answer will help me to clear the concept of static and dynamic ips.

Thank you.

You as a normal user cannot tell the EXACT location of an IP address unless you have access to the ISP servers hosting your IP. Agencies, however, do have access to ISPs record or they can ask for it and can trace your exact location. You, being a normal user, can only trace the country/city etc of the IP but you cant pinpoint the user.

In short, to pinpoint the user, 2 things can be done

1 - You have to be the ISP hosting the IP (you can get the exact location that way) provided you have the access to the right server of the ISP
2 - Hacking into the ISP thus gaining illegal access to their servers and pinpointing the user using its records

Needless to say, way 2 is illegal! :)

BTW, static and dynamic IP wont save you from being traced. Suppose the IP 1.2.3.4 was allocated to user "x" at a specific point of time, the ISP will surely have a timestamp log of the event and can know that to what user was that ip located at a specific time.

a combination of IP and GPS coordinates can get you the exact location though ;). some phones (like iphone 2g without GPS) can point very close to your exact location through your ip and wifi or cellular signals. there are many techniques but if you only have ip (normal jasoos :dd), you will not be able to pin point location. basically IP never gives exact geographical location.

Hi visit ip-details.com here they provide code which helps to find the location of the particular ip address.if you give the ip address it display the exact location of that ip like country network provider name, latitude and longitude etc,,,
Static IP addressing is for one customer on one IP address and Dynamic IP addressing assigns a different IP address each time the ISP customer logs on to their computer, but this is dependent upon the Internet Service Provider (ISP) because some ISP's only change the IP address as they deem it necessary.

you can find your location using Android GPS Apps,, will tell you the current location...

Static IP,, is kind of Permanent ip Address Assigned by ISP, also called Public IP Address in some instance !,

Dynamic IP address is Kind of Temporary IP,will be changed automatically when a new session established !!

in that case you do not even need IP address. just tap your app which will use A-GPS to locate your coordinates.
