Maybe automatic updates are being downloaded, after which the pc does restart and this is likely to happen with new machines i.e new windows. Check if automatic download of updates is enabled and if it's because of that or not

Furthermore, When it goes off, does it gives a msg? I mean, how exactly does it goes off? Does it restarts? Or does it shuts down? What windows are you using? Any other relevant details would be helpful

i believe it gets over heated as cpu fan is not providing sufficient air blow to cool it down or the grease beneath fan has dried up..

Mine used to do that and it was because of the fan problem. I cleaned it and it started working fine.

As suggested by others, the problem is with your PC temperature. Make sure there is enough airflow and all the fans are working properly. I suggest you install CPU Temperature and Graphics temperature gadgets for windows 7. It helps you monitor your computer temperature. Normal CPU temperature is around 40-45C and should not exceed 80-90 or the computer will restart.
