First of all perform these following simple solutions:

First: right click on the file you have recently saved, click on open with and select the MS word application and before opening it, check the 'always open box' then click OK.

Second: Open MS office, click on Menu, then click on 'Save as' and manually click on save the file in MS word 2003 (if you are using MS word 2007)..before saving it make sure you are saving it in desired format.

These both are simple processes, if problem still persists, please let us know.

Then please follow the exact steps:

First: 1) right click on the file.. 2) click on open with and choose default programme, just like we did before.. 3) Now click on ''Browse'' and choose the MS word application, the place where you installed it..

Second: 1) Open a new MS Word.. 2) Click on Menu of MS Word at left top corner (not the windows Menu) 3) Click on Save as: 4) select type format:

So its MS 2002, I was guiding you through for MS 2007..

Step 1: Click on File in the top menu.
Step 2: Click Save As.
Step 3: Click on the input box beside File name.
Step 4: Type file name.
Step 5: Click Save.

You have to choose the file type..

I have attached an other snap to clarify the process..

Open msword, drag the file and drop it into word. If you cant find msword you might not have msoffice installed

Goto control panel-> folder options, there should be a tab called file types, click on it and you will find a long list of file types and their applications, try to find .doc and .rtf and change their default application to msword
