Default MA/MSC Private Vs Regular

Dear All,

Kindly guide me regarding difference in MA and MSC? I know that MA stands for Arts and MSC for Science, My question is regarding the status of both or are they the same??

Secondly please also provide information regarding the difference between a private MA/MSC Degree holder and a regular degree holder, are regular candidates preferred over private candidates during job selections etc.?? Is there any difference in the degree/Transcript? I have heard that in case of private, it is mentioned on the degree that the said candidate has cleared the degree privately.

The Master of Science (MSc) traditionally is granted for successfully completing a postgraduate program with a science or technical focus. By contrast, the Master of Arts (MA) traditionally refers to disciplines of the humanities such as history or philosophy. In reality today, however, this distinction is not strictly upheld anymore and, in fact, you can find both degree types for postgraduate programs in business or management.

Job Prospects

Speaking of job prospects, the most significant difference between an MA and MSc is what students tend to do after graduation.

A common misperception among prospective Master students is that an MSc will make you less employable. This is not true.

Firstly, there are the typical MA and MSc fields that we discussed above. Employers will actually expect you to have the appropriate type of Master’s for your particular field. Secondly, getting an MA or an MSc in the disciplines that offer both will typically mean that you have the option to branch in two directions – a professional career for an MA degree or an academic career for an MSc degree. That is not to say that you will be stuck doing either for the rest of your life.

For instance, a Marketing MA graduate could become a New Product Manager in a growing company, and a Marketing MSc graduate could become an assistant in a university and later pursue a PhD, or alternatively seek employment as a Marketing Strategy professional in a large corporation.

As far as your question of doing MA/MSc as private or regular is concerned, pursuing any degree as a regular student has no comparison with the private one. What you learn at the institution cannot be learnt as a private candidate. Moreover, the employer prefers regular degree holders.
