hello sadia i want to do MA English from NUML but i dont know if admission r still open or not and u will appear for final examination which r in April 2012 .i also want to appear in the same exam ,although i am not prepared at all but i will try to do it .plz can u help by telling me about admission .

@ storm123 NUML takes private exam twice a year. One is in April and other one in September. The advertisement has not been published yet. But the last date for submission of form and fee would be 20th Feb 2012 most probably. One is supposed to take the exam of ten papers. Exam fee is 10,000 rupees.U can get books from NUML Islamabad or from its regional campuses. Inshallah I shall appear for these exams in April 2012.

thanku so much so nice of u . you said i could buy books from the university sure about that and would i also be able to buy some old papers book ? u said i have to give 10 papers that means i have to study separate subjects , is it difficult ? i really want to pass this exam in Aprils attempt . can u plz tell me from where i should start ..................

hi, i also want to enroll as external candidate is that compulsory to give 10 papers after six months or we can give 5 papers?

one more thing sadia ,sorry to disturb u again . i have heard that , like, i did my BA in 2011 from PU so they say i cant give MA exam this year because there should be two year gap . is this a requirement for every uni or just PU . secondly is the course for MA English same in NUML and PU or not . thirdly, does NUML offers MA in other subjects

Can i do MA from PU do u know about the admission date plz do tell, thankyou .

# The previous papers will be provided to you through your personal contact with the people there in the main building of NUML Islamabad, on personal request. First get hold of previous papers and evaluate either u can do it or not.

# At least 5 papers should be passed in one attempt.

Yes, 10 papers are 10 subjects.Those 10 paper names are

1. History of English Literature and Literary Criticism
2. Phonetics n Phonology
3. Poetry
4. Drama
5. Prose
6. TEFL
7. General n Historical Linguistics
8. Novel
9. Essay
10. American n Canadien Literature

# Well , course is easy or difficult, depends on one's level of commitment.

# 2 years gap is a must between B.A and M.A. You can take exam in 2013.

# M.A English NUML course is absolutely different FROM P.U.

# Books are available from NUML Book bank inside campus.

# Other private M.A offered by NUML is M.A Urdu only.

# Start your preparation from "History of English Literaure"
by Michael Alexander or for understanding as a beginner, study from "History of English Literature" by B.R. Malik.

Firstly, Phonetics and Phonology is a subject of Linguistics, not of Literature.

1. Phonetics and Phonology

1. English Phonetics and Phonology by Roach, Peter
2. A Dictionary of English pronunciation by Jones, Daniel & Gimson, A.C.
3. An Outline Of English Phonetics by Jones, Daniel

These three books are sufficient to prepare this subjects. For understanding difficult things, take help from internet.


2. Poetry

1. A Quintessence of Classical Poetry-NUML
2. A Quintessence of Romantic Poetry -NUML
The above two are the text books and you need to buy separate key books for each poet published by either New Kitab Mahal or Famous Publishers.

b. Edmund Spenser
c. John Milton
d. Alexander Pope
e. John Donne
f. William Wordsworth

Total potes are 13.

3. Drama

The same goes for Drama paper. Drama text books and separate keybooks.

There is a alot of material available for Literature preparation on internet as well.

well i know phonology and phonetics is from linguistics... thanks for ur adivice
n helping me... well one thing i want to know for external candidate we have to give papers semester wise or we have to give it anually ...is it compulsory to appear for 10 papers...
