entrance test of M.A English literature at numl university
 

Hello my query is related to the student who is studying or has passed his entrance test of M.A English literature at numl university.

I am going to take the entrance test on 26 july. guide me what the questions are asked in the test. if anyone has a sample test paper .do update it or guide me in the regard...sincere replies are needed.

I am not an M.A. English but I have done English Diploma from NUML.My cousin in last semester sat for its entrance test for M.A. English.He said that there was M.C.Q's type of test comprised of "grammar and usage". Study "Oxford Practice Grammar (oup)" It will help you a lot and don't worry the test of NUML is not tough at all. Best of luck

Test is mainly comprised of

1)Grammar Portion:

Correction of sentences.
Idioms.
Direct Indirect.

2)Explanation of a piece of poetry.

Main purpose of the test is to check your grammar and familiarity with English Literature.

yes grammar portion , sometimes a short easy.
yes its all about to check your grammar and familiarity with English Literature.
its easy to qualify so don't worry

Yes exactly this is what came in my test when i took the test. The piece of poetry we were given to explain was Willliam Blake,s "After apple picking" i think.
Along with that we were also given to write a paragraph on a given topic.
Overall i think it was an easy test :)

I have a query relating MA English, is someone can do MA English without any tuition or College i mean buy notes and study them and then appears in exams as a private student, is it a possible to pass exams with above formula, plz seniors guide

That depends upon how much good you are in english... i mean grammar etc.
btw if you are appearing as a private candidate in NUML, the university still offers classes for a month or two for the ease of private candidates.

I have recently given my last semester exams. The entry test comprises of only two questions: 1. Explanation of a poem and 2. A short essay. Nomore questions no grammar no idioms etc.

Practice writing a short essay on general topics like Democracy or Terrorism or Energy Crisis. Plus you will have to explain a poem, which will not be in a difficult language.

then its different from that NUML offers. In Numl u do masters in english linguistics and literature n BZU, PU, KC offer LIteraand Linguistics as two different degrees

Yep buddy i did it privately with help of notes and books i did b.a elective english and got 65% marks i also did m.a english previous .now doing final year its not hard all u have to do is to get books according to demand of the concerned university ,get the sample papers and ur job will be done ,also if u find somebody who have already done an m.a eng regularly ,he can help u with notes but to me books r fine compared to notes for a private student. (where their is a will their is a way)

At NUML, if your entry test is not good they send you to zero semester, a prerequisite for those who don't do well in entry test and a source of revenue generation for the university because the one who goes through zero semester is a prey as in he will not go to any other university and will do 4 more semesters which can also become more than that because of NUML's Short-Attendance policy which affects many because of NUML's highly Rangeen Mahol. And those who fail entry test are still not sent to homes, they are admitted to a 6-months or 1-year Diploma or Advanced Diploma respectively again to not let the sales go. So, welcome to NUML, a lovely place! You will also have an interview, the teacher who will be taking your interview is to decide which category you fall in. Khayam Mangat is a name 120 teachers of FELL&AL know ALHAMDULILLAH :-) So if you people need help regarding admission then don't hesitate. Just ask the name of the teacher who interviews you and come out, I'll make sure you get admitted to first semester.

NUML's rangeen mahol?
Rangeeni depends upon the student and his company. The university is not responsible for it .If one wants to be a good student n not indulge in any sort of rangeeni there wouldnt be any problem of short attendence :)
