Exclamation Urgent query: M.A English Literature from Karachi University.

Hi, I wish to do M.A English Literature from Karachi University, I have recently finished my BBA Hons. I have no knowledge about the process of M.A English, so I would appreciate your guidance in this regard.

I want to know that:

1) The duration of M.A English Literature program (is it one year or two year?)

2) Do you get a degree or a mark sheet at program completion and are the marks percentage based or GPA based.

3) How is teaching at Karachi University department of English?

4) If I opt for M.A english privately, what would be its process.

I would be grateful for all valuable members input.

Thanks and Regards.

dear, M.A english is a two years programme. one can attempt it both as a regular as well as private candidate. To do it as a regular, one has to seek admission either in morning or evening programme, fees to be submitted and regular classes to be attended. as a private candidate, first of all regisration is required in the university probably in the month of december every year, then submissio of examination form till mid of june and then exam in july. cost for m.a english as private is not more than RS.12,000, while as a regular students it costs more than forty thousands.

both marksheets and degrees are issued mentioning results in either GPA or Percentage.

karachi university is offering admission in MA english only to BA,BSc and B.Com pass students from now onwards.this is what they mentioned in their eligibility criteria in recently announced evening admissions.
They also mentioned in their eligibility criteria that those who have studied Functional English in their graduation are not allowed for MA.
What a discriminatory policy.
BCS,BBA,MCS,B.E. MBBS,B.Tech,Pharm D,etc are not allowed any more to study M.A englihs however proficient in English they are.
This is injustice.

Exactly. I completely agree with you brother. I am myself BBA graduate, I talked with the director of KU admissions, he said as per government rules, 4 year BBA is equivalent to a masters, hence you are not allowed to do a second masters in KU.

This policy is really absurd. I really wanted to do M.A English literature, from KU. As their M.A English is the most renowned , but all 4 year bachelor graduates are denied the right to admission.

As per international standards only a 4 year duration program is classified as an undergrad degree. 4 year program can not be considered equivalent to masters.

There needs to be reforms in our education system.

Default M.A. English from KU

Hi,
There is a lot of information online about the MA program from Punjab university, but any information about the process of applying to Karachi university for M.A. English as a private candidate is hardly available anywhere.

Can anyone please guide me as to where I am supposed to go to get the information. Or any contact number?
I tried emailing KU directly, but did not get a response.

thanks and regards,
Sara
