Dear All,

There is no difference in b/w Mphil and M.S. MBA holders are issued Mphil and BBA (hons) are issued M.S Degree. No difference.
Do not confuse the 'time span' with 'degree'. MBA is surely equal to MPhil when it comes to 'years of education' (total 18 Years), however, when you utter that MBA is equal to MPhil, that’s totally crazy. Have you ever witnessed MBA holder's degree? Is it written that the candidate is bestowed with 'Masters in Philosophy'? No its not. On MBA degree, it’s clearly written that the individual has cleared 'Masters in Business Administration'. Also, BBA (Hons) and BSC (Hons) are also granted the respective degrees. They are not granted M.S equivalent degrees.

Simple BSc 14 Years
Simple MSc 16 Years
BBA (Hons) or BSC (Hons) 16 Years
MSc(Hons) 18 Years
MBA 18 Years (As per HEC requirements, various universities now do not grant MBA admissions to the candidates with 14 years of education).

If you want more details, you can visit the official website of HEChttp://www.hec.gov.pk/InsideHEC/Divisions/QALI/QADivision/Pages/PQR.aspx . As per HEC data, simple BA is either a 2, 3 or 4 years degree depending upon the credit hours distribution. 4 years BA requires 124-136 credit hours.

Corporate sector pays little emphasis on Mphil. On the other hand, MS and MBA are highly desirable degrees in private sector. Hence, Mphil will never be equal to MBA even if its a 20 years degree because their contents and nature are way different from each other.
there is no difference between MS and MPhil because MS is for Management and Finance student plus engineering while MPhil is for social and medical sciences students

after BBA you are eligible for MS
Sir If I would say k I'm interested in Lectureship ... and after completion (M.PHIL or MS)
What would you all suggest me to do .. if I am interested in Govt Sector and I also wanna remain in Finance .
There is no difference in M.Phill Finance and MS Finance, untill they're taken after 16 years of education. A sharp difference can be of research work, more expected rather mandatory for the tag of "M.Phil". But if you chose MS Finance that would be equivalent to M.Phill. Every MBA (after 16 years of edu) with a major subject can also be taken as MS in that major subject, because no MBA can intrinsically have a major focus as it must be Busi. Admin only, with all aspects/subjects knowledge.

Hope answer is relevant.
Yeah ThankyOu this is quite clear to understand :)

MS / MPhil

I got admission in bzu Lahore campus which offers MS ( 2 years ) degree, 1 year class work and 1 year thesis as required by Hec for Phd. That's a new approach, think so. As old pattern was universities offer MS ( 1.5 years ) class work degree while MPhil ( 1 year class , 1 year thesis ), so now am seeing the scenario has been changed by universities. Still some universities other than BZU offer MS/MPhil degree programmes in same subjects. It's strange for me. As far as my opinion is concerned hec should take interest in this matter too to ease students as some of them may go overseas for higher education. Thank you.

"irfansays" whats the total fee package of MS in BZU Lahore campus ?? Any other options In Lahore ? which university is best as well as "economical" especially for job holders i.e class timings ?

secondly, Private universities charge too much for the MS and If any body can afford to pay high cost then y not go for any professional degree like ACCA, ICMA etc instead of MS/Mphil ?? MS/Mphil can only help u in teaching while Professional degree can help u in any industry. So any suggestion ??

Total fee package at bzu Lahore for MS is 375,000 with upto 25% discount for Govt employees. Some universities offer same degree programme at dues upto 200000 for 4 semesters. So bzu Lahore has much more dues as compared to other universities like superior, hajvery or punjab college. In my opinion bzu holds strong reputation among these universities with govt degree. The facility is good and office staff is very cooperative. Acca degree programme is much more expensive than Icma pakistan. You can check their dues at Icma official website. If u want to go to industry or multinational organisation Icma after MCom or Mba is a good option rather than MPhil. Class timings at bzu Lahore is 3-9 sat-sun only. Choice is yours.

As per HEC Pakistan, if u have 18 years of education with one year research work either MPhil or MS, you will definitely go for Phd in any recognised university after clearing your NTS GAT subject paper and the minimum duration of Phd will be of 3 years. Same 18 years of degree is required for Phd abroad either you go at your own expense or through HEC scholarship. PhD from abroad ( USA, Australia, Europe ) will definitely give you a competitive advantage towards leading and you can also enjoy better salary packages here. I will suggest you to plz go through MPhil in business management before going for PhD as it will build your approach towards better understanding of research process, case studies carried out and critical writings which will certainly helpful for your PhD.
