Is MPA equivalent to MBA?
 

Hi all,

Please guide me if MPA is equivalent to MBA as per HEC.
Any document related to it....

I have tried searching HEC but no luck so far.

Master of Public Administration (MPA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) are equivalent as both are Master (16 years) education. The only difference lies in field areas.

I have Masters degree in PA and I hear from my professors that they are equivalent. Can I get equivalence certificate?

I know there is difference in field areas but there are a lot of similarities in both fields too.

Your Management Sciences department can offer both programs but MPA is not equivalent to MBA as per HEC policy. If I am not wrong, your degree basically concentrates on NGO and government sector management but MBA provides education for private sector management.

If you are interested in MBA, I would recommend you to choose best university for that because “brand names” sell well. Without prior experience in business administration, IBA/KSBL graduates are taking 60K plus initial salary packages in Karachi.

MPA is not equivalent to MBA.

This means I can not apply to the position in FTO as requirement was MBA with Finance where as I have MPA in Finance Degree..........

You should call and confirm since PA is relatively new field it is sometimes not posted in advertisement but the words like "related field" may turn in your favor as both are similar fields to some extent .
It won't hurt to confirm.

You can apply as Asst. Director ( A & E ) as requirement is Second class or Grade C 16 years of education in Business administration HR/ Management or PUBLIC ADMINISTERATION with 2 years experience.
As for Asst. Director (Finance and accounts) you should confirm

I fulfill the requirement of Asst. Director ( A & E ) but the quota is of Punjab only and I am from Sindh Urban so,,,I can't apply due to quota unfortunately.
