Please solve,Day and Night

I have a question ! (Must Answer plz)
We use to say that there are 365 or 364 whatever days are in one year"
Then where are Nights...?
and When we count days for prisoners we count nights and days both ( Person in jail complete 2 years of his/her prison in one year) and for example for a cricket match we say "This match is day and night"
"""" So should we say that there are 365 days and nights in a year

The day we talk in the year refers to the time that completes the 24 hours cycle and it said to be a day cause the next day start aftr it ends.. while in you example of jail and cricket or other term we generally refer to the day as a time of light i.e sunshine..
