Do you feel scared of crying?

Have you ever held back on your tears?

Well, don’t. Research shows that letting your tears out makes you feel better. Crying is beneficial in many ways.

Neuroscientist and tear researcher Dr. William H. Frey II, PhD, director of the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, studies the affects of crying. He’s spent over 15 years studying crying and tears, according to Care 2.

Research tells:

1-85 percent of women and 73 percent of men felt less glum and mad and after crying.
2-Women cry more than men – it’s what research says. On an average,
women cry 47 times a year while men cry 7 times a year.
3-Crying goes on for almost 6 minutes on average.
4-Mostly people cry between 7 and 10 p.m.

Dr. Frey considers crying a healthy response to sorrow and frustration. Crying is a very good way to remove emotional stress that leaves negative effects on human body.

Here are five reasons why crying is good for you:

1. Relieves Stress

You must have experienced the feeling of being relieved of a certain stress after crying. That’s why crying is healthy. Dr. Frey says, “Unalleviated stress can increase our risk for heart attack and damage certain areas of our brain, the human ability to cry has survival value.”

2. Lowers Blood Pressure

Research shows that lowers blood pressure and pulses rate.

3. Removes Toxin

Dr. Frey says, tears actually remove toxins from the body. Tears remove chemical that builds up emotional stress.

Crying means you’re normal and shows that you’re human. So don’t be afraid to cry next time when that tear is at the corner of your eye or your throat goes dry.
