wa alaikum mus salam, behn...

first read this page, it might help u

methodology for prep schedule? well, depends on you really....you can do one subject at a time (i.e finish one subject in 10-15 days) then move on to the next one) or you can pursue more than one simultaneously (one optional + one compulsory)....
once you have finalized the no. of subjects to follow, you can make your schedule by dividing the topics over the days..i am so Einstein :pp NOT

academy? no, its not really necessary..tell you what, go visit your nearest academy, spend a week or so there (just tell the clerk that you will pay them after a week, once you are satisfied..they are so greedy, they wont bother a prospective client ;) ) so if you like it there, if you think your prep would benefit from that place, you can stay...if you find it a waste of time & money,(Bolt!) hey, we,at the forum, are always there for you :phone :))

err scoring debate. :thinking i so dont know how to answer that..i guess subjects are only as scoring as your prep.
.baki seniors will guide you better
good luck

Ambareen subjects are good, but try to replace indo pak history with any scoring subject.
As so far academies are concerned they play their role. But proper guidance and consistancy is the key to success. This forum is more than enough4 guidance.
So its not necessary to join academy. Start from beginner's guide provided in the forum.

Three things carry equal importance in preparation of CSS exams.
1) Proper Guidance
2) Time Management
3) Hard work
Ignoring or not giving due importance to any one among these means u wl not be in a position to exploit ur potential fully.Chalk out plan to study almost 8 to 10 hours daily.Don't expand the stdy of a single subject to affect the timing of other subjects.
Guidance from seniors is most important of all.Prayerize ur efforts to Allah Almighty.hope the best

wsalam
academy is nt necassary
ur combination is good but indopak is sometimes considered to be low scoring
there are some universal subjects which may be not familiar with you but they can give you good score ... there is actually a scoring trend in csS
these subjects are punjabi,usa history,const law,intr law,mercantile law,muslim law,sociology,journalism,forestry,public admin... these subjects are of 100 marks each
in these subjects even if you dont have background you can still score very good marks infact more marks then your main subjects... so check their sallybus and choose the subjects
2nd thing is book selection according to the subject
i tell you some good books recommended by csp's and also have a personal experience with these books and found that these are really very books
BOOKS FOR COMPULSORY SUBJECTS
ENG---SYED SADDAT BOOK IS GOOD BUT NOT TOO MUCH,I WILL ASK MORE CSP'S AND WILL TELL YOU INSHAALLAH
ESSAY---IT WILL BE COVER FROM DAILY DAWN
CURRENT AFFAIRS---DAILY DAWN FOR THAT
PAKISTAN AFFAIRS---TREK TO PAKISTAN
EVERYDAY SCIENCE---EVERYDAY SCIENCE BY IKRAM KASHMIRI BOOK
ISLAMIATE(IN URDU)----ISLAMI NAZRIA E HAYAT BY DR KHURSHEED AHMED
now start reading these books, and revise again and again,,, and first collect inormation and after some time you should start writing essay....
