Supplications for gaining Knowledge



1. Rabbish rah lee sadree. Wa yassirr lee amri. Wah’lul U’qdatam-millisaani. Yaf qahu Qawli. ( Surat-ul-Taaha : 25-28)

(Translation:
‘Oh Allah! Open my heart for me. And make my work easy. And open the knots in my tongue. (So that) they can understand me.’

(Urdu): Ae mere Rab mere liye mera seena khol de. Aur mera kaam aasaan kar de. Aur meri zabaan ki girah khol de. (Ttaake) who meri baat samajh paaein.)


2. Rabbi zidni Ilma. ( Surat-ul-Taaha : 114)

(Translation:
‘Oh God, increase my knowledge.’

(Urdu): Ae mere Rab! Mere ilm mein izaafa kar
)

3. Allahumma faqqih naa fid deen. (Bukhari and Muslim)

(Translation
‘Oh Allah ! Grant us the knowledge and understanding of deen.

(Urdu): Ae Allah! Hamein deen ki samajh boojh ata farma
)

4. Allahumma inni as aluka Ilman-nafi-aw-wa amalam-mutaqab-balaw-wa rizqann Tayyiba. (Mishkwaat)

(Translation:
Oh Allah, I ask from you knowledge which benefits me, deeds that are accepted, and bread which is pure (halal).

(Urdu): Ae Allah! Mein tujh se nafa dene wale ilm, qubool hone wale aamal, aur pakeezah rizq ka sawal karta hoon.)


5. Allahummann- fa’ana bima Allamtana wa Allimna ma Yann-fa’una wa zidna Ilma. (Ibn-e-Majah)

(Translation:
Oh Allah! Give us benefit from what You taught us, and teach us what benefits us and increase our knowledge .

(Urdu): Ae Allah! Jo tune hamein sikhaya us ke saath nafaa de aur hamein who sikha jo hamein nafa de aur hamare ilm mein izaafa kar.)


6. Allahumma inni A’udhu bika min Ilmil-la Yann-fa’u wa min-qalbilla
Yakhsha’u wa min-nafsillah tashba’u wamin da’awatillaa yustajaabu laha. (Muslim)

(Translation:
Oh Allah! I seek refuge in knowledge that does not benefit me and the heart that does not fear (You), and an ego that doesn’t get satisfied, and that prayer/supplication which doesn’t get accepted.

(Urdu): Ae Allah mein panah mangta hoon us ilm se jo nafa na de aur us dil se jo na darey aur us nafs se jo seir na ho aur us dua se jo qubool na ho.)
