Islam Invite to the Way of your Lord with wisdom and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. Truly, your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided." Holy Qur'an 16:125

Default Importance of Jummah Prayer

Quran Saya:

“O you who believe! When the call is proclaimed to prayer on Friday (the Day of Assembly) hasten earnestly to the remembrance of Allah, and leave off business: that is best for you, if you but knew! (62:9)

As we can see for ourselves, in the above Verse the Noble Quran doesn't only refer to the Jummah prayer but also gives a lot of importance to it. The Arabic word "Jumu'ah" or "Jamm'ah" (جمعة) means 'congregation.' This congregational prayer is offered once a week in the afternoon and it replaces the regular afternoon Zohr (or Dohr) prayer offered on other days. It's known as salaat-al-Jummah. It comes on the day known as 'Friday'.The word Jumu’ah is derived from the Arabic verb Jamma “to put together, to gather or to add. The days name Al Jummah therefore signifies a day of coming together.

The Jummah gathering serves a social purpose. The Khutba and prayer serve an educational and spiritual purpose.

Importance of Coming to Jummah (Surah Jummah)

O ye who believe! When the call is proclaimed to prayer on Friday (the Day of Assembly), hasten earnestly to the Remembrance of Allah, and leave off business (and traffic): That is best for you if ye but knew!

And when the Prayer is finished, then may ye disperse through the land, and seek of the Bounty of Allah: and remember Allah frequently that ye may prosper.

But when they see some bargain or some pastime, they disperse headlong to it, and leave thee standing. Say: "That which Allah has is better than any pastime or bargain! and Allah is the Best to provide (for all needs)."

Coming to Jummah is and should be a priority for each and every one of us.

Cleaning up

Narrated by 'Abdullah bin Umar,
Allah's Apostle (P.B.U.H) said, "Anyone of you attending the Friday (prayers) should take a bath."

Jumma Sunah of the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (S.A.W.W)

1. Bath
2. Cleaning of teeth
3. Clean clothes
4. Applying Perfume

Arriving on Time

Narrated by Abu Huraira,
The Prophet said, "When it is a Friday, the angels stand at the gate of the mosque and keep on writing the names of the persons coming to the mosque in succession according to their arrivals. The example of the one who enters the mosque in the earliest hour is that of one offering a camel (in sacrifice). The one coming next is like one offering a cow and then a ram and then a chicken and then an egg respectively. When the Imam comes out (for Jumua prayer) they (i.e. angels) fold their papers and listen to the Khutba."

Narrated by Abu Huraira:
heard Allah's Apostles (P.B.U.H) saying, "If the prayer is started do not run for it but just walk for it calmly and pray whatever you get, and complete whatever is missed. "

Narrated by Jabir bin 'Abdullah:
A person entered the mosque while the Prophet was delivering the Khutba on a Friday. The Prophet said to him, "Have you prayed?" The man replied in the negative. The Prophet said, "Get up and pray two Rakat."

Listen attentively

Narrated by Abu Huraira:
Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) said, "When the Imam is delivering the Khutba, and you ask your companion to keep quiet and listen, then no doubt you have done an evil act."
