Forty Ahadith
A Compilation of Forty Ahadith
The Holy Prophet Sallalaho Alaihe Wassalam said, “Whoever memorized forty Ahadith relating to the Deen to relate to my Ummah, then Allah SWT (on the Day of Judgment) will raise him as a jurist-scholar and I will intercede for him on the Day of Judgment and I will be a witness on his behalf.” (Mishkat) “Whosoever memorises and preserves for my people, forty Ahadith relating to their religion, Allah (swt) will resurrect them on the day of Judgement as or in the company of jurists and religious scholars.” “On the day of Judgement, I shall be an intercessor and a witness for him.” “It will be said to him, ‘enter by whichever of the doors of paradise you wish’.” -1- It is part of the Sunna that a man should accompany his guest to the door of the house. (Ibn Majah, Baihaqi). -2- He who believes in Allah and the Last Day should honour his guest; he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should not annoy his neighbours; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should say what is good or keep silent. (Bukhari, Muslim). -3- Eat together and not separately, for blessings are associated with company. (Ibn Majah). -4- Mention Allah's name, eat with your right hand and eat from what is next to you. (Bukhari, Muslim). -5- The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade that a man should drink standing. (Muslim). -6- When you visit an invalid tell him to make a supplication for you, for his supplication is like of the angels. (Ibn Majah). -7- A Muslim has five duties towards another Muslim; to return a salutation, visit the sick, follow funerals, accept an invitation and say 'Allah have mercy on you' when one sneezes. (Bukhari, Muslim). -8- There are six good qualities which one believer should display to another; he should visit him when he is ill, be present when he dies, accept his invitation when he gives one, salute him when he meets him, say 'Allah have mercy on you' when he sneezes and act sincerely towards him whether he is absent or present. (Nasai). -9- Those who are nearest to Allah are they who are first to give a salutation. (Ahmad, Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud). -10- The one who is most honourable in Allah's estimation is the pious. (Bukhari, Muslim). -11- It is not allowable for a man to keep apart from his brother for more than three days, the one turning away and the one turning away when they meet. The better of the two is the one who is first to give a greeting. (Bukhari, Muslim). -12- Avoid envy, for envy devours good deeds just as fire devours fuel. (Abu Dawud). -13- To harbour good thoughts (about a brother) is a part of well-conducted worship. (Ahmad). -14- He who is deprived of gentleness is deprived of good. (Muslim). -15- Righteousness is good character, and sin is that which revolves in your heart and which you do not want people to know. (Muslim). -16- I have been sent to perfect good character. (Muwatta, Ahmad). -17- The believers whose faith is most perfect are those who have the best character. (Abu Dawud, Darimi). -18- Allah will not show mercy to him who does not show mercy to others. (Bukhari, Muslim). -19- "If anyone cares for two girls till they grow up, he and I will come on the Day of Resurrection thus," and he joined fingers. (Muslim). -20- "I and the one who takes responsibility for an orphan, whether his own kin or of others, will be in paradise thus," and he pointed his forefinger and the middle finger with a slight space between them. (Bukhari). -21- "Believers are to one another like a building whose parts support one other." He then interlaced his fingers. (Bukhari, Muslim). -22- A believer is not stung twice from the same hole. (Bukhari, Muslim). -23- When a man tells something and then departs it is trust. (What he told should be treated confidential) . (Muslim). -24- O Allah, grant me life as a poor man, cause me to die as a poor man, and resurrect me in the company of the poor. (Tirmidhi, Baihaqi). -25- The strong man is not the good wrestler; the strong man is only the one who controls himself when he is angry. (Bukhari, Muslim). -26- Jabir b. Samura said Allah's messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was far from talkative. (He spoke only when he had a good reason for doing so). (Sharra-as-Sunna) . -27- Abdullah b. al-Harith b. Jaz said he had not seen no one more given to smiling than Allah's messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). (Tirmidhi). -28- Leave that which makes you in doubt for that which does not make you doubt. (Tirmidhi, Nasai). -29- Fear Allah wherever you are, and follow up a bad deed with a good deed and it will wipe it out, and behave well towards people. (Tirmidhi). -30- Actions will be judged by intentions, and everyone will be recompensed according to what he intended. (Bukhari). -31- Among lawful things divorce is most hated by Allah. (Abu Dawud). -32- Ibn Abbas said, The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "He is not of us who does not show mercy to our little ones and respect to our great ones. (Tirmidhi, Mishkat). -33- According to Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, the Prophet is reported to have said; "If a daughter is born to a person and he brings her up, gives her a good education and trains her in the arts of life, I shall myself stand between him and hell-fire. -34- Seven will Allah shade on the day when there will be no shade but the shade of His Throne: one of them is a man who offers Alms without his left hand knowing what his right hand has given. (Bukhari, Muslim). -35- Blessed is the servant who spends out of the wealth he has earned without sin. (Ibn Adi, Bazzar). -36- Abu Huraira reported that the Messenger of Allah said: "Wealth is not in vast riches but wealth is in self-contentment. " (Bukhari, Muslim). -37- Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The noblest charity is that a Muslim acquires some knowledge (of the Deen) then imparts it to a brother Muslim." (Ibn Majah). -38- Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "no one has given his children anything better than adab (which in this context refers to Denni knowledge)." (Tirmidhi, Baihaqi). -39- Hadhrat Muaaz (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever taunts a brother (Muslim) with a sin (which the Muslim has committed), will not die until he (the taunter) commits the same sin." (Tirmidhi). -40- “O son of Adam! You wish for one thing whilst I wish for another, Ultimately only that will occur which is in accordance with My wish; And if you make yourself content, in that which is My wish, Then I shall also grant you, that which is your wish; However, if you turn against that which is My wish, Then I shall tire you out in the pursuit of that which is your wish; And ultimately only that will occur which is in accordance with My wish!” (Ahadith-e-Qudsi) . |
