Default Semi Government and Autonomous Bodies
Assalam o Alaikum members of CSS Forum

I am posting here after quite a while. I have a question on which I require your comments. What is a Semi Government Organization??? Are NGOs considered Semi Government in Pakistan??? How to differentiate between a Semi Government Organization and an Autonomous Body???

I shall be thankful for your comments.

To me, Autonomous Bodies or Semi Government Organisations are those who follow government rules and government but also have their own policies, rules and structures. Like most of the universities are autonomous or semi government.

NGOs are non governmental organizations they don't come under law of semi and autonomous bodies in Pakistan.
Moreover,semi govt and autonomous bodies are those which have independent board of directors and make their own laws and rules to run routine businesses,.eg OGDCl is semi gvt and wapda ,drap,suparco are autonomous bodies.

I have been working with development sector.FPSC rejected my experience coz they required experience of semi or autonomous org then I contactect to ministry of economic affairs,NGOs monitor and operates under economic ministry,ministry official confirmed me abt it,I don't have email right now.u can get more clarification from ministry coz they deal with ngos.

Jazakallah brother, that's precisely what I needed . I was determining 'eligibility' of candidates for a post, work experience of government/semi government organization/institution was asked for and I didn't know which organizations to consider 'Semi Government' which is why I made this post . Hi Sir,

Can you please confirm How SUPARCO is an autonomous body? It was Autonomous in 1981, but after the establishment of National Command Authority (NCA), it is no more an autonomous body. Can you please confirm this? Thanks
