Lethargy at the FPSC

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC), tasked to administer tests for recruitment in the civil service, has become an epitome of lethargy. After conducting tests, it takes a minimum of six months to announce results. Moreover, the later stages of interviewing and the final selection take an additional six to eight months, elongating the entire procedure to over one year, and in some cases, two years, when the selection process comprises more steps beyond the initial test and interview.

If we compare the performance of the FPSC with that of the National Testing Service (NTS) — a private testing organisation — the latter is far more efficient and a lot more transparent. Not only does the NTS announce results within two weeks for the MCQ tests it conducts, it also ensures transparency by providing candidates with carbon copies of their answer sheets so that the candidates can calculate their own scores by matching their answers with the answer key uploaded by the NTS on its website.

The inordinate delay in announcing results of competitive exams by the FPSC creates anxiety and frustration in the minds of candidates. It is, therefore, requested that the commission takes measures to expedite the process of result-declaration, for this is the very essence of any testing organisation.

yes it is true.
Fpsc is run by retired bureaucrats and they are the backbone of corruption in pakistan.

Strange...but this is the first article that endorses the transparency of NTS...although timeliness of NTS is remarkable...

I do not think there is any slower-working organization than FPSC in Pakistan, if not the whole of world, which is sad. More saddening is the attitude of bureaucrats at FPSC who are as heedless as they can be. Honorable FPSC Chairman should convene a meeting in this regard and put this agendum forth for the relief of candidates to announce results of General Recruitment exams sooner. I took Inland Revenue Inspector test in the month of March, 2015 and I am still waiting for the result. Whatever happened to 'result announcement within three weeks' as FPSC put on its website. What a shame!
