Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) has announced to start annual examinations of fifth and eighth grade from February 6 and February 11 respectively in all districts of the province including Rawalpindi.

The commissioner will conduct examination of only five subjects for each of both the classes from this time, while exams of rest of the subjects will be arranged by the respective schools administrations. The PEC will hold exams for English, Urdu, Islamiat, Mathematics and Science of fifth and eighth grades.

Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) has finalized to arrangements to conduct the examination of 21 lakh eight thousand candidates of 5th and 8th classes. The meeting was chaired by Secretary School Education Department Nadeem Ashraf and it was attended by Muhammad Aslam Kumbo, Addl. Director DSD Nasrullah Wirk and Manager Operation PEC. The Secretary told the meeting the main objective of these examinations is to raise the quality education and promotion of uniform examination system in the province. The meeting was informed that remuneration has been paid to the staff amounting to Rs.4.6 crore for the examination 2008.
