Default Why this place goes silent?

Hi Folks,

I came here after a long time. However, one thing that caught my attention is the silence in terms of new posts. Most of the posts I checked were weeks if not months old. I am not sure what has happened to the members.

One thing is common when you join after such a long time, you see all new people, with no one you use to know earlier. All I remember are Raz, Last Island, and Princess Royal who were so active back then, or maybe all of them got allocated, finding no time to post something here, and maybe new members are so studious, finding no time for posting something new in here. Or maybe I am missing something.

Anyhow, looking for old fellows as well as new ones to post something new, informative, and entertaining.

Regards

Yes, exactly. That is why I am wondering why newcomers are so silent. Earlier, this place was buzzing with replies, debates, and so on. I am just wondering what has happened to the people. Anyhow, I hope there will be new posts, debates, and engaging discussions.

Last year there were hardly any job announcements by ppsc and fpsc but now every months if not hundred but tens of jobs are being announced and this forum seems to be of no more use expect old some old post. What bothers me more is that now fpsc and ppsc has drastically changed their paper pattern and aspirants like me who have no guidance expect this forum are clueless as past papers are now not enough to get through the test

Well, one of the reasons for less info on the new pattern is the fact that most of the members are also clueless about such changes. Old members, as well as mods, may also be experiencing the same. Anyhow, at least there is still much old info available here. I hope you might come across someone good with new info.

I too remember the Last Island one. I don't know who was behind the id but s(he) sure helped a lot of members with their problems and answered queries frequently. Since you mentioned members being quiet, it's worthy to mention that I wanted to help one person here with a comprehension problem but I got an error because my post count was too low (lol). I am still getting hold of this site's UI.
Anyhow, I want to help as much as I can because now I got the time to answer to queries relative to my field and interesting subjects.

From where one should prepare vocabulary and sentence correction portion
Please don't mention general sources
Also is there YouTube or website which teach basics of math like algebra ratio and percentage questions ..

For sentence correction, I simply used "Living English Structure" a grammar book taught in BA. It helped a lot. Another book is by Thomas Martinet, I forgot the book's title. Both these books are excellent for grammar and sentence correction.

Well, I don't know about other methods of expanding vocabulary. I was told that you should write down the meanings of words commonly used in english newspapers and then read the papers regularly and these words would often be used repetitively and hence you would memorize them easily. For me, this method worked as my vocabulary was enhanced considerably.

However, when it came to the difficult words as given in various tests, it was partially successful. I tried cramming such words, but it didn't work. Remembering such words is indeed a difficult task, and if you do the cost-benefit analysis in terms of the time used in remembering such words and compare it with doing some other tasks. Then my experience is not to remember or cram such words. You can utilize that time for other tasks. This is my personal experience. Maybe there are people who may have other views.
