Lightbulb What Islam says

Allah says,

"Tell the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that will make for greater purity for them; And Allah is well acquainted with all that they do" And tell the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty…" (Quran 24:30-31).

Lowering the gaze does not mean keeping our eyes constantly on the ground and not looking up at all.

It is turning our faces away when we see a less-than-decently-dressed woman or man walking on the street.

The Prophet(S.A.W) further explained to us Allah's command.
Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet(S.A.W) said, "…the adultery of the eyes is looking (at [that] which is not allowed)…" (Bukhari, Muslim).

Also, on the authority of Jurayr who said, "I asked the Messenger of Allah about accidentally looking at something that is not allowed and he said, ‘Turn your eyes away.'" (Muslim).

A Muslim is decent and pure. This means all of his or her body must be decent and pure. A natural consequence of this is lowering the gaze.

Allah tells us:

"O you who believe! Do not follow Satan's footsteps: if any will follow the footsteps of Satan, he will command what is shameful and wrong..." (Quran 24:21). Looking at another man or woman in an indecent manner is following in Satan's footsteps.

Make Dua (supplication)

In general, seek refuge in Allah. It has also been suggested to say "La hawla wa la Quwwata illa billah" (there is no power except with Allah). If we sincerely make Dua, Insha Allah, we can succeed in turning our eyes away.

Maulana Shah Hakeem Muhamad Akhtar prescribes the following disadvantages of ogling – “Bud Nazri”:

1. Disobedient of ALLLAH:

ALLLAH (SWT) prescribes us that "Ae Nabi SallALLLAH-O-Aleh-E-Wasallim tell the Muslims that conserve their eyes. Means don’t look on "NA-MEHRAM" girls/women and "NA-MEHRAM" boys/men

2. Defalcation (Khayanat) in Deposit (Amanat):

The person (male or female) who looks on "NA-MEHRAM" girls/women and "NA-MEHRAM" boys/men made Defalcation in Deposit. ALLLAH tala prescribes that ALLLAH knows defalcation of eyes and secrets of hearts

3. Title of "Cursed"

Huzor SallALLLAH-O-Aleh-E-Wasallim prescribes that ALLLAH curses Nazir (the person who looks girls/women) and Manzoor (person who shows his/her beauty)

4. Title of Foolish:

Hazrat Molana Ashraf Ali Thanvi Rehmatullh Aleh prescribes that every sin shows that the person is fool. The person who commit sin shows that there is some deficiency in his brain because he is disobeying such a great Lord who has everything of us. Our life, death, our health etc.

5. The person who commits this sin becomes eligible to ALLLAH's anger, visitation and curse.

6. Heart becomes Weak:

Frequency of thoughts of that beautiful girl/boy increases because of Bud-Nazri. There is tension (stress) in the heart. Because of this heart become weak. Because of Bad-Nazri all 5 senses tries to get haram enjoyment.

7. He or she will become medically weak

8. He will become un-gratefull:

He becomes un-grateful because of Bud-nazri. He sees different beautiful faces around. Because of this his own wife becomes not beautiful in his eyes. The person who does not see other girls/women, his own wife becomes beautiful in his eyes.

9. Eye-Sgiht becomes weak:

ALLLAH tala prescribes that "if you grateful to me then I will give you more". And looking other girls/women is un-gratefullness.and ALLLAH prescribes that if you un-grateful then there is a great punishment for him.

10. Annihilation of heart
:

The person who protects his/her eyes and not looking girls/women, boys/men will closer to ALLLAH. When a person protects his/her eyes, his/her heart will be broken. When heart is broken and become red by blood (internally) then sun of closeness of ALLLAH rises

11. Causes disease of heart "Anjina":

"An-Jaina" occurs because of Bud-Nazri. Bud-Nazri causes "tension"(stress) in the heart. Because of this tension "An-Jaina" occurs. Because tension (stress) of heart increase the size of heart.

Our religion guides us in each and every moment of life. But still we can’t understand the hidden-truth. If we follow – our life will be easy otherwise full of worries. I pray to Almighty Allah that save all of us from ogling and bad practices and provide us the strength to act upon the teachings of His beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBHU). Ameen.

@Mr. Waqar Abro,

Respected Sir, both men and women should follow the tenets of Islam equally. I don’t put all the responsibility on women. Both the sexes should observe decorum equally and respect each; none of them should look upon down each other. There should be an atmosphere of peaceful coexistence. Perhaps, men are more harsh than women by considering women weak and feeble.

Post In Hijab (Hejab) Muslim Girl looks 10 times more beautiful

In Hijab (Hejab) Muslim Girl looks 10 times more beautiful

Most IMPORTANT about Hijab (Hejab) is that Allah has ordered to wear Hijab (Hejab). For detail please see Noble Qur'an (33:59, 24:30, 24:31).

Do you wear a Hijab (Hejab)? Give it a try today.

The pea is a splendid plant. It proudly displays its strong green Hijab (Hejab). It protects it from the hot and cold weather and guards it from insects. Allah has blessed the pea with a special Hijab (Hejab), because without it, the seeds would scatter, dry up and die.

The orange keeps itself within its shiny orange Hijab (Hejab) to protect its delicious fruit. Otherwise it looses its taste too.

So are the banana, the coconut and the pomegranate. Each one has an elegant and unique Hijab (Hejab), which protects it from disease and destruction.

The jewel of the sea, the pearl, has been given a very tough and rugged Hijab (Hejab) - oyster shell. It protects it from sea animals and keeps it sparkling and shining inside.

However, the most beloved of Allah in all His creation is the Muslim Girl who wears the Hijab (Hejab). She knows it is a gift from Allah. It protects her from harm, injury and mischief. She wears it knowing it gives her dignity, beauty and respect. So precious she can be that she hides herself beneath her Hijab (Hejab).

Qur'anic Verses about Hijab

A Muslim woman wears hijab for the simple reason that God has commanded it in the Quran and Sunna. As Muslims we make the testimony “Muhammad is the messenger of God“. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would not be a messenger if he did not come with a message, and his message is the Quran. Therefore, we are really saying “The Quran is the message of God“. Our faith in God motivates us to obey God’s message and that is why we follow what God has commanded in the Quran.

The Quran also tells us to obey the Prophet Muhammad (Surah an-Nisa verse 59), to take what he allows and refrain from what he prohibits (Surah al-Hashr verse 7), to follow his judgments (Surah an-Nisa verse 65), and to abide by his decisions (Surah al-Ahzab verse 36). It also tells us that some of its verses are ambiguous in meaning (Surah Al-e-Imran verse 7), and that the Prophet Muhammad will explain the meaning of the revelation (Surah an-Nahl verse 44). All of this is the domain of the Sunna. The Sunna records what the Prophet Muhammad said, did, and silently allowed. It shows us how he put the Quran into action. It tells us what he commanded, allowed, prohibited, judged, and decided. And it informs us how he explained the Quran. The Sunna is an important and necessary source of Islamic law.

So what do the Quran and Sunna have to say about women’s dress ?

“O you Children of Adam! We have bestowed on you raiment to cover your shame as well as to be an adornment to you. But the raiment of righteousness, that is the best. Such are among the Signs of Allah, that they may receive admonition.” (Quran 7:26)

“And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what must ordinarily appear therof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands’ fathers, their sons, their husbands’ sons, their brothers, or their brothers’ sons or their sisters’ sons, or their women or the servants whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex, and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O you Believers, turn you all together towards Allah, that you may attain Bliss.” (Quran 24:31).

“O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks close round them (when they go abroad). That will be better, so that they may be recognised and not annoyed. Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful.” (Quran 33:59)

I think I should share my thoughts too.

I look at the Islamic philosophy regarding the subject matter a little differently.

There is not even an ounce of doubt about the strong condemnation extended to this flagitious act by Islam. However, I think Islam wants us to treat this as just another desire. I base my arguments on the following reasons:

1) Islam prohibits us to 'be' with women in fast along with the prohibition of eating and drinking.
2) Islam allows us to marry 4 women at a time (polygamy) in addition to the women servants (londi)

Thus, I am of opinion that Islam emphasizes on creating such a society where no one is hungry instead of restraining every hungry person from doing evil. Such is the beauty of Islamic society that it creates an environment conducive to good deeds instead of focusing on punishments.

This is just my understanding of Islam and I don’t wish to engage in hot argument with anybody because I find the heated arguments very prevalent in matters concerning religion.

Even if someone wants to debate, I suggest to put down one argument at a time.

All the Best~

This thread was meant for 'how do you respond to ogling?' instead of islamic perspective, solution to ogling, or a debate over hijab. I think it's hard to stick to the original topic. Hence, thread closed.
